They could have used our A330 parked at LGW today.
Cheaper to pay for food and water for the delayed flights.

Appears one of Thomsons 767 ,not sure which one, is grounded at Cancun awaiting engine change.
They sent out a team of engineers to do the change(currently in a nice hotel there) but the engine had to be flown to Mexico City(Dont think Cancun has custom clearance) for a 600 mile trip by road.
The last i heard was stuck there due to paperwork irregularities by the shipping company.
Appears the engine in question was originally on ex First Choice reg JLO,had problems and was sent for overhaul.Returned and had problems with severe vibration on Flight to Cancun.
Dont know what the latest is but yeah they have had a few problems recently.

Thanks it all makes sense now, it was BK that went tech in CUN but i had assumed it had come back obviously not, and the engine could have only come from JLO

Folks, you might have noticed that the last 2 pages of posts have disappeared.

Once again we remind you that the 'Airlines, Airports and Routes' forum isn't the spotters forum. If you ever find yourself tempted to type in a registration number or discuss aircraft livery it is extremely likely that you are making or responding to a spotter post.

Neither is this forum interested in aircraft seating configuration, in flight entertainment, or which aircraft type is flying a particular route except as a component of a discussion of the business of the airline. The Passenger Forum might be.

Last but certainly not least, PPRuNe is NOT your airline/ticket agent customer service! If you have a question about the ticket you paid for ASK THEM. These include but are not limited to questions regarding the aircraft type, seating, inflight goodies, and luggage.

What possible sense does it make to ask those questions in an annonymous web forum instead of asking the people who you paid to be responsible for providing you that information?

And if they can't or won't provide you that information.... why did you buy the ticket?

Post TOM - Derry Flights Summer 2010

Flights to Palma from Derry are operated by Airbus 320 on Tuesday from Belfast Base.

Flights to Reus from Derry are operated by Airbus 320 on Wednesday from Dublin Base.

In Summer 2009 TOM had a B757-200 & A320 based at Dublin but for Summer 2010 it is a A320. A B757-200 may be swaped for the A320 in July and Augest for peak months.

Europe Airpost will take over TOM Derry-Reus route for summer 2011 using a B737-300 based at Dublin. TOM will contuine to operate to Palma for 2011.

I see BFS is to keep a Thomson based aircraft for summer 11 (with DUB getting Europe Airpost as above. BFS / DUB were usually both Skyservice aircraft), however with SSH being served all summer, will this remain an A230, or could we see a 757 based??

Can an A320 comfortably make BFS - SSH??

TOM Dublin Base

TOM wil still have a base in DUB with one aircraft year round and operated all other routes but they are discounting the REUS service to Europe Airpost as they can take uo the time to fly DUB-SSH which will resume in October 2010.

They will fly to SSH in summer 2011 on Wednesdays and thats why they need have to discount the REUS service.

For summer 2009 TOM flew to SSH from Dublin on a B757-200 as i know it was based but Lutas Air served the route for summer 2010.

For winter 2010 TOM will have one bases aircraft to operate ski & sun routes. As TOM are taking over Jet2.com charted routes for winter 2010 a second aircraft will be based from Dec - Feb.

I think the B757-200 will be bases in Dublin but it may possibly serve BFS - SSH as well as DUB-SSH.

Thanks for the clarification re Dublin.

I think the B757-200 will be bases in Dublin but it may possibly serve BFS - SSH as well as DUB-SSH.
The BFS - SSH flights tie in with the schedule of the based BFS unit, so wondering if possible upgrade to 757 for 2011.

The DUB+SSH operates on a Wednesday also so it will have to be a B757-200 based in Dublin & a B757-200 in Belfast also.

To clarify - in Summer 2011, both Irish bases will have a Canadian 737-800 in partnership with Sunwing.

I've also heard about the sunwing partnership too. XL used to do it for DUB. Some great crew over there in Sunwing.

TUI/Sunwing

The lease of Sunwing aircraft by Thomson was probably on the cards even before the closure of Skyservice, it's just happened a year or two sooner.

In September 2009, TUI and Sunwing agreed to effectively merge their operations in Canada; Scroll down to Strategic venture in Canada

The prospect of the impending end of the old First Choice/Skyservice agreement probably cemented the idea in the Skyservice management's mind that the business wasn't viable anymore when Thomas Cook called in their debt, in the peak season most of Skyservice's aircarft (and business) was supplied by their 2 European counterparts.

Mabye but can a B737-800 fly DUB - Sharm el-Sheikh and from Belfast - Sharm el-Sheikh ??

TOM flew it for summer 2009 and it was a B757-200 as on May 29 2009 while landing in Dublin there was a lawmer on the runway and it just missed and the jet was carring over 200 passengers on board. I also traveled on it later that summer and it was a B757-200.

A different carrier operated the service for summer 2010 but TOM will resume the route from May 2011.
