TCS Expeditions
By coincidence G-OOBF was rolled out of MAEL at BHX today with TCS Expeditions titles. Can be seen on the excellent bhxflightguide b*og website.
Pictures also include the BA 787 that diverted in the other day as well.
On the subject on the 787 & long haul is there anywhere a schedule Can be seen for Thomson winter 2014-15?
Obviously the Thomson flights timetable shows the Thomson flights but not all the third party cruise flights. I would just like to know the full BHX flying schedule for long-haul this winter.

BE is gone for a four week trip on this one, they were in Easter Island today.

Thomson fleet news
Reported in Flight that Thomson will receive an extra 2 B787 aircraft and will take 47 of TUI B737 MAX order announced for 60 'frames a little while ago.
?Thomson to benefit from TUI's upped 787 order - 10/8/2014 - Flight Global
I'm guessing the 737 order will be a mix of replacing older aircraft and some expansion?

Thomson to fly to Costa Rica
Direct flight to Costa Rica from the UK to be reinstated thanks to Thomson Airways, from November 2015.
Guess they will serve the capital San José instead of Liberia, which used to be flown years ago in the First Choice Airways days.

I highly doubt it will be the Capital, we are a HOLIDAY airline and the Costa Rica I did 2 years ago was to Liberia on the west coast as Thomson Airways and not First Choice.
It's a beautiful country and could not understand why it was dropped after only 1 winter, alledgely it made money, just not Enough money......
Look forward to going back and going up the volcanoes!!!

Wonder if we'll ever see any of these ideas?

- the recession is apparently ending - holiday prices have definitely gone up in the last couple of years and they're selling
- Riu (also part of the Tui family) have two new huge hotels there - one hand would be washing the other if Thomson took guests to fill them.

Boeing 788's
The very useful all things 787 B*og now has the next two Thomson 788's listed but having noted down next summer's schedule only six long-haul seem to be needed from May.
Does this mean they will be used for medium and short-haul flights, cover across the TUI fleet or new services will be launched?
Manchester and Gatwick seem to have two Sanford's each, which I was quite shocked (despite the amount of competition) as here in BHX we moan like anything about having just the one each year and for some reason I expected that MAN & LGW would have at least three a week all summer. It has to be noted that BHX has got an extra Cancun all next summer and one 788 is at BHX most of the week in winter from Christmas.
I have seen the post about Costa Rica but that is winter 2015 but I was wondering if there is an impending announcement re expansion for summer 2015 and winter 15/16.

Hasnt the full Summer 15 long haul schedule already been announced ? Would be unusual this year to suddenly launch a whole wrath of new summer 15 routes outwith this at this stage. If the program is like for like but with less 767s then maybe the 787s will appear on some short haul ie SSH like this year.

Dear members,
With Thomson announcing the new seating on their aircraft inc.pods.
Will this mean less capacity on aircraft ie less seats?
I did hear that it may be on shorthaul by next summer to trial this does anyone know if this is true?
also which aircraft types will be in this configuration?
I know the 737max will have this in full
Regards

The 2 seater booth looks a good idea , and probably work as stated for those celebrating honeymoons , anniversaries, but not sure the group tables would , I mean taking off backwards??? Plus how would the table work , I mean now taking off and landing requires tray tables put away , incase of an emergency...

BA has had backwards seated take-off for about 15 or more years in Club World (Business Class). Maybe not everybody's taste but fine with me and supposedly safer. Can't see TOM implementing any of these options tho.

Tom 787.
Olton Pete,
The summer is the quiet period for the 787, so 6 for long haul next summer would be about correct. Next summer we will have 8 and they intend to use 2 on short haul ,1 each at Man and LGW. It may only be for the peak months though.
A cabin refresh has been announced on the current fleet of 757 / 738 and possible a trial of this new seating arrangement at some stage.
