Those that attended the BA AGM certainly learnt a lot if the Times article is anything to go by. The Chairman of BA is clearly the master of stating the obvious, it is akin to Gordon telling us not to waste food. Another communications gaff!

For once I have to defend Sir Richard. It seems that the great and good of the airlines all share the same skills of stating the obvious. It must be a job requirement somewhere on the first page of the job describtion.

I'd be interested to know how Virgin Atlantic is doing at the moment. Long before the fuel crisis, Singapore Airlines had been complaining that it was underperforming.

I believe VS flew with a 1% operating margin in the last financial year.

Which US Airline?

Coming back to Richard Branson's point, I would venture to suggest the answer might be that there will not be a "casualty" as such. Not that one, or may be more than one might become insolvent - but that the travesty that is "Chapter 11" will ensure that they a reincarnated - to fail again, and return to good 'ole chapter 11.

They certainly wouldn't be allowed to be taken over by any cash rich foreign investors (Emirates for example) - that would never do.
