While frustrating for you the problem was not actually BMIs fault

It is BMI's fault as they employ the baggage handling company.

"It is BMI's fault as they employ the baggage handling company."

Now Now Norman you surely know better than that....

They dont employ them, they pay a company to do a service.
So if that is considered 'fault' in your opinion are you also saying that these poor passengers are at fault for what happened to them as they too paid for a service?

So only 40% of the Aviance baggage handlers made it to LHR yesterday! I work at the BD baggage office in DUB and I wish they could have told us why we were missing so many bags!

How about today, it was just as bad did they have similar problems?

I see there are a couple of BMI liveried 145s doing some SWISS flights out of Zurich at the moment. They are parking up at the remotes where the RJ100s normally sit.

G-MIDL was WFU a few days ago and flown to Shannon (I assume for storage), anyone know where she's going to next? Also does anyone know when G-MIDC and the A320's are leaving the fleet?

And why they are two Embraer's in Storage?

planned last days in service of the others:
G-MEDE 20Jan
G-MIDR 13Mar
G-MIDP 3Apr
G-MIDC 17Apr

Seem Aviance have FCUKed bmi up again at LHR! Scores of baggage left behind again all week even on day when LHR was operating fine!

I used to love BD and still do but this seemingly constant crap with Aviance is crazy!

As far as I know the EMBs aren't parked up (yet), the two aircraft pulled off Brussels on Saturday (I was operating on one of them) are re-deployed to the NCL-BRU and BRS-BRU services.

Some years ago when BMI sold off its handling operation they clearly went for the biggest number (££) instead of 'QUALITY OF SERVICE' which to my mind has the biggest impact on customer satisfaction. If only they listened at the time....

And at a meeting in Gatwick last week Aer Lingus announced cutting down form 5 aircraft to 3 with the loss of 35 Cabin crew jobs, maybe the Irish financial crisis has finally started to bite.

Ya, thats new news. Dublin base closed and DUB-LHR reduced to 4 daily. How they expect to be able to compete with Aer Lingus's up to 13 times daily service is anyones guess. The new LHR originating timetable is going to be useless for a lot of Dublin based business passenger as there's be no way that they'll be able to get into central London for 9.

And yet Etihad has increased its DUB services to 10 wkly. I think you need to look at the individual airlines' circumstances, rather than blaming things on the Irish economy.

BD has been in trouble for quite a while now; I think that much is well known. So has EI (although admittedly the state of the Irish economy hasn't helped them); however, EI's LGW adventure was always going to be difficult and probably ill-advised in the first place.

you need to consider traffic flows. I might syggest that a lot of Ehtiads traffic could be construction industry people going back and forth between Abu Dhabi and Ireland as the industry is dead in Ireland and not so hot the UK the traditional place for surplus Irish construction people go.

In fact in recent years the flow was from the UK to Ireland.
