This flight is operated by an Airbus A320 which is based at the airport all week operating various charter flights for Olympic Holidays!

Hope this helps

bmi Manchester Rumour

Hi all have just heard a Very Credible Rumour regarding bmi at Manchester. The Rumour states that the A330's are set to return to Manchester but no Routes announced. Although we would love to see these Big Birds back at MAN I can't really see it. Just wondered if anybody else had heard this?

Are BMI really that poor at business planning? I think the A330's will be LHR based machines for quite some time yet!

"Is it likely they could sell the aircraft and slots to the highest bidder?"

They have to buy BD first.

Surely you know the answer to that already.

330s at MAN

If this was to happen it would be an amazing display of indecision even by BD's already high bar. Unless of course there is some influence from LH. Seems unlikely though unless anyone knows more?

Highly unlikely unless there is some wishful thinking based on wishful thinking in Virgin Towers about bmi. Most likely outcome is that the A330s go back to the lessor next year and that a joint replacement for them and the Astraeus 757 are determined.

Anybody have any idea whats happening with the Lufty takeover on/off if on anyone know when confirmed? Seems to have been dragged out for ages!! Flew BMI the other day and spoke to the crew who seemed drained by the whole saga and just wanted to know what was happening with their jobs as no communication from the management!

I have a question regarding how BMI would fit into the Lufthansa group. Assuming that LH is forced to buy the shares in BMI, then I just can't see how the current BMI route network would fit into the enlarged company. If BMI was taken over by Virgin or BA, then its Middle East, African and Central Asian flights would allow for connection from the USA and LHR would be a suitable hub.

Under LH ownership, LHR would represent the most western hub in Europe. It would be silly to transit passengers from Germany, Scandinavia and southern Europe back to London to connect to their eastern or southern flights on BMI....it would be far more logical to leave this area to OS, who already have experience in some of these markets (especially the CIS)....this leaves the question, what would LH do with the BMI route network? It's not as if the brand has much recognition in the Americas (where LHR is best suited to serve, georgraphically speaking). What are your thoughts?

This is why I think it's a real shame that BMI isn't taken-over or linked in some way with BA or Virgin, who, in my opinion, are far better fits. Even Air-France-KLM would represent a better partner.

LH are justing getting SMB's share in the airline. bmi has to sorts its own problems out thats what LH have said in part. LH have been on bmi board for 10 years so you would hope they know what the airline is doing.
BA would love the slots as would VS but none of them have the money at the mo.
VS and their paper profit and BA loosing cash.

bmi did fly to 2 US cities so the brand was not main stream. But its getting known in the Middle East and Arifca.
Lets see how the new Heathrow product helps.
