Lufthansa-BMI: EC sets provisional date for takeover ruling
By David Kaminski-Morrow
German flag-carrier Lufthansa has formally notified European Commission regulators over its planned acquisition of a controlling stake in UK airline BMI.

The European Commission has given a provisional deadline of 14 May to rule on the takeover.

Its records show that Lufthansa put forward its formal notification on 3 April. Lufthansa's acquisition will increase its share in BMI to 80%.

3rd of April, looks like Luffty having been dragging their heels, perhaps Bish deal is water tight after all, or were they waiting for BALPA to roll over first

Am I right in thinking if the LH deal isn't cleared by May 14 then the "four month in-depth investigation" will mean the takeover won't go ahead until mid September?

Don't think LH have increased their share to 80 % yet - awaiting EU approval. But hopefully won't be too much longer. Was wondering if there was any reason it wouldn't get cleared by May 14th?

But no idea if this is true yet! I have only seen it here.

When it is rostered I'll believe it.

How are things looking at Bmi Regional for the year ahead and future? Will this lufthansa deal been done and dusted in May, the 14th I believe is the ate mentioned. How is the crewing situation, any chance the pool will get a look in soon? I would imagine if the Chester rumour comes to light it would be crewed by Manchester crew with a dual base.....

Just a quick observation regarding the Chester-Filton-Toulouse contract Body Mass Index Regional have won from Eastern, and by the way congrats on winning this

I have been told by a friend in your airline saying that aircraft are very scarce in your airline due to taking over mainline routes and do not know where the aircraft is going to be sourced from, if this is the case where is the cover going to come from if you have any tech issues, because BAE are very up on OTP even if it is just 10 minutes delay.

Just a casual thought for somebody to comment on

Talking to some old regional muckers in the pub last night, onr had been told by Aberdeen that at least one and pos:two more units were coming for this contract, three years i think they said? starting in Summer this year ,one based either end, they'd no idea on whether this would mean yet more time in hotels or a base down in France?
