Looks like GSM are having a W08 base at ABZ - new routes on www.aberdeenairport.com destinations page, year-round PFO, AGP, ALC and TFS, with new routes LPA, ACE and SSH. Not on sale on gsm website, but may be announced tomorrow.

ABZ to SSH/ACE and LPA, Think Not!!
Lets look at this whole thing logically.
When you look at the BAA website the so called new GSM routes are not at the top of the page, where new posts would go.
They are infact in the middle of the post between FR announcing a new ABZ/DUB route and WF announcing BGO. Another route that was anounced a year or two ago.
Also it says that SSH/LPA and ACE will be joining the year round PFO and ALC flights this winter. Both of these routes are non op from end of October to the end of March.
Also GSM would not start a new route with just over 6 weeks to go as they don't know how the route will sell.
I bet there is no big announcement in the pipeline

ABZ
Apparently these were winter routes that GSM aborted before any commencement last year. May be that BAA had forgotten to delete them off their list of destinations for this coming winter?
So the good news maybe isn't.
Mind you maybe NOT flying ABZ-SSH IS good news for the crews!

B.737-700 ~ ABZ to SSH
Unless the loads were light, a tech stop would be likely due to performance limitations at ABZ.
Now increasing to TORA/TODA would prove to be a winner in the long term.

Would like to think there going to buy someone or somthing maybe Jet2, Bmi Baby, whats left of Zoom or new a/c.
Did GSM end the lease with Oman Air early? Thought it was away for a year but according to this is returning 31 Oct 08.

What will GSM be doing with the 767 that hasn't got a lease arranged for W08 and then when another returns from a lease with Air Callin in DEC 08.?

More new GSM service from ABZ on its way
Today's online edition of The Press and Mail has an article about new flights offered from ABZ. It focuses mainly on BE's expansion at ABZ, but also references GSM's new ABZ flights. Buried in the article was this sentence:
The entire article can be found here.
Announcements are imminent on further new Aberdeen services from Flyglobespan.

(GSM buying baby? Now thats given me the best laugh I've had for YEARS !)
Yes, they apparently are also considering to buy Thomas Cook. (see other postings)
Why not go for Ryanair?
Probably better to settle for Ruskin Airways and their 2 Daks.

Flights to Canada from CWL S09
Award-winning airline flyglobespan is to offer flights from Cardiff Airport to Hamilton, near Toronto for the first time.
Flyglobespan, which is part of the Globespan Group - specialists in Canadian travel for more than 30 years, will offer the weekly service every Sunday from 7June 09 until 27 September 09.
The airline already operates a very successful programme to Hamilton Airport from a choice of UK airports including London Gatwick, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Prices from Cardiff will start from £179 (one way including tax).
Commenting on the new flight, flyglobespan CEO Rick Green said, " We are delighted to be offering this new service to people in the South Wales area.
"Our Canadian flying programme is increasing in popularity year after year, and we are confident that our winning combination of low-cost flights and superior service will prove a real hit from Cardiff too."
Patrick Duffy, managing director at Cardiff International Airport added, "We are pleased Flyglobespan has stepped in so quickly to restore Toronto to the network from Cardiff. This is testament to strong demand for long haul services in South Wales and the desire to travel to North America and Canada in particular.
"We hope to continue the strong ties with Canada, established by the success of the previous Zoom service, as well as work with our partners to increase inbound tourism into Wales, with Cardiff International Airport as the gateway to the country."
Flyglobespan flies to over 20 destinations world-wide including flights to Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto (Hamilton) from a choice of seven UK airports. As well as flight only packages, flyglobespan also offers a wide range of accommodation packages, fly-drives and tours.
