Anyone in the know what the fate of the CGN route is after JAN08? Now that TUIFly will axe the BHX route, Easyjet should be more than comfortable being the only airline serving CGN from the Midlands in the future (the numbers have always been much better than TUIFly's from BHX).
The flight times, frequency and fare prices especially are all very good and much better than what Tuifly offers from BHX. Real shame that they're pulling this route, hopefully they could consider bringing it back again soon.

Although this route is providing a service, I cant see it being brought back. Why tie up an aircraft on a route where although the loads are high, the pax dont spend anything on board and that is where money is made. Instead choosing PMI and BCN, which are guaranteed to bring in more money in through onboard sales. It is a shame for the people who use this route regularly though.

It's getting to the time of year when aircraft position out empty to bring holiday makers back prior to the season ending (especially the Greece and Turkey flights). Usually happens towards the end of the month, this one seems a bit early, but not altogether unusual. Thats my guess.

EZY Cabin Crew Uniform

Hi All,

The first look the general public will get of the new cabin crew uniform at EMA will be on the 8th October.

4 cabin crew, 2 male 2 female, will have their picture taken airside beside the Geneva departing aircraft, if all the pictures are unable to be taken due to time constraints they will move to the check-in/front of the terminal area.

The launch is due to happen on the 8th/9th October (some confusion over the date) but this simply isn't going to happen as some crew still dont have their uniform, no doubt it will be in about 6 months time in good old EZY style.

East Midlands School of Flying

From another forum, it has been announced that the flying school is to be disbanded by November. A letter to the school members included the statement:

'Due to Ryanair's expansion at the airport and their future use of
DHL's apron during daylight hours, the airport is planning an internal
road to link that apron with the terminal one. This road will run
straight through the flying school building and apron.'

Apart from the disaster of the school being shut down after all these years, what help would it be parking Ryanair's a/c on the Western apron during daylight hours, when the main apron is only likely to be short of space overnight? (Almost adds to the earlier DHL rumour - I wonder how long it would take to convert the DHL building to a Ryanair terminal!)

I doubt very much that you will ever see a Ryanair aircraft parked on the Western apron in the normal course of events - or Easyjet and Baby for that matter - as all aircraft are parked according to a plan worked out in advance in collaboration with all the airlines concerned. The airside road to DHL should have been built at the same time as the apron, but I did hear at the time that there was some argument over who should pay for it, DHL said as they would derive no benefit from it, why should they contribute to the cost.

The whole thing is just a much cheaper way of making more concrete available for the odd occasions when it is needed such as for diversions, and to tide the airport over until they can afford to extend the 40s apron southwards.

"Is there any plans to remark stands on the East Cargo Ramp to make 747 stands????"

I think there's two available already - but they're diagonal stands which would require parking across stands that are currently nose-in to the head of stand road. I think...

If memory serves there is only one B747 stand on the eastern after the last re-mark, but it is diagonal-cant remember last time we had anything that big on it though, much easier to use 120/121/122!

is there anything in the pipeline from the Routes forum in Stockholm?

are the airport going to remark the new apron to the west of the pier? And looking at it, has it been designed to add a second floor to it for air bridges?

Regards

Just seen on another forum the details of TCX fleet for summer 08 and EMA should be getting 2 x A320, presumably the My Travel A320 and the TCX is downsizing from B757 to an A320.

Also the TOM cargo schedule has been updated for winter 07, looks like EMA has 1 x B757 and 2 x B738 for winter plus the usual B763 doing BGI for the cruises every now and again. Haven't looked at it in too much detail but new routes for this winter include CMF, MIR and SZG. All have TOM flight nos so not sure what the FCA is doing over winter yet. Will post more info if i can find some.

Ryanair 2008

Ryanair flights from EMA for Summer 08 are now on sale. The current situation seems to be:-

1. All routes operated in Summer 2007 are available again next year.

2. New routes for 2008 are POZ (3/wk) BHD (13/wk) ALC (4/wk) BUD (4/wk) ORK (7/wk) RIX (3/wk) TFS (1/wk) and VLC (4/wk). All these new routes have been previously announced.

3. This equals 160 flights per week compared to 126 per week this summer - an increase of 27%.

4. The schedule requires full utilisation of 6 based aircraft. Services from/to Madrid, Shannon and Alicante will be operated by out-based aircraft.

The above is based on the schedule for July 2008.

Whether there are more routes and based aircraft to come as rumoured on this thread, we will have to wait and see.

Good news for Ryanair...

Do know of any possible future routes?...

Do you think we could have possibly had bmibaby expand to Salzburg this coming winter, Ryanair have reduced it from 4x Weekly last year to once weekly this year, quite a big downsize...

Belfast

Well with Belfast going 13 times a week, and the endless sale of 1p seats, can Baby ride this out or is the route for the axe?

Yes it is good news for both Ryanair and EMA with all the new flights, some 160 a week, plus more to come yet, just goes to go Ryanair is willing to put in the investment into EMA.

I see UKIA was on the central ramp again yesterday.

Why should they axe BFS, Ryanair go into BHD Baby go into BFS.

And that would be the seat sale that ends on Monday.

I think the point trying to be made is that bmibaby don't have exactly a great reputation when it comes to competing with Ryanair. ORK, NOC, BCN, MJV, PSA, BGY, DUB, regional France etc. are all routes where they either haven't been able to make it work whereas Ryanair have, or they've ran off from the competition. Whether it's lack of commercial sensibilities or a product consumers have confidence in, or both, Ryanair will blow baby out of the water.

Ryanair always has a seat sale (noticed the endless £0.49 fares on Baby), plus the tickets on BHD will be kept extra lower till its Bye Bye Baby again.

I would take the summer 2008 timetable with a pinch of salt at the moment, TFS is only planed at the moment for once a week on a sat. And with this being such a good route, high spenders aswell you can be sure it will go go back to twice a week if not more for the summer.

Please stick to issues about EMA, not personal comments. If you mean the belfast issue, im sure we will have the last laugh in the Ryanair crew room

Lee....
I wasn't aware that you are now the moderator for this thread, and remember what I told you about biting?
At 13 flights a week I don't think that baby have too much to worry about.
Anyway, maybe baby (pardon the unintentional pun) have their eyes a bit further afield !?
