I expect a reasonable level of service at any airport and object to being treated like a nuisance. If as much attention was paid to passenger comfort as has been lavished on peddling over-priced designer gear the airport would be much better. After all, it is supposed to be an airport, not a glorified boot sale.

The reason that airports have become as you call them 'glorified boot sales' is they need to earn revenue to survive. As revenue from the airlines drops then they have to look elsewhere and I am afraid parking and shopping is where that comes from.

We all want to fly cheaply and this is the consequence thereof.

Ahhh...in a blinding flash I've got it at last! You can't have your cake and eat it. I think I'd rather pay a bit more for a decent airport, and forget the cake.

There's not too many "decent" airports about, especially those that cater for low cost airlines, people want cheap fares and the result is that airports can turn into a bit of a scrum.

The best way to avoid this is to buy a business class ticket and take advantage of all the priorities and lounge access this gives you. I happily use Ryanair for European flights and I feel that the overall experience is fine for the price. I usually manage a long haul business flight once a year - very nice but nothing low cost about it!

I don't think you would expect to get Ferrari style and performance from the most basic Fiesta, you get what you pay for - air travel these days is unfortunatly no different.

News of More Jet2 flights - Winter 2019/20

https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/news/derby-news/jet2com-launches-biggest-ever-winter-2073745

Sorry, I dont know how to make a link ''live'.
Good news, I guess.
Weve forsaken BHX for EMA for 2019. Got to give it a Go - hopefully security queues wont be as bad and car parking costs are very cheap. Offsets the extra 20miles each way driving distance for us - and the minor extra costs that Jet2 charge out of EMA compared to BHX.
Any ideas WHY the flight costs are more expensive out of EMA?

Any chance of a quick ''tute' on how you posted a ''live' link?
I copy and pasted from my browser directly into the text and hit Return. On other forums that usually works. What did I do wrong please?

Hi all, flying in from Glasgow to east mids on Monday morning, landing at 8:15 in the morning. Does anyone know how long it takes to get from doors open to the exit? Cheers.

I would suggest its just minutes from exiting aircraft to walking out of the Arrivals big doors.
You've no Border Force and no wait at the carousel either.
So, allowing for a slow day, say 15 mins.

TUI Long-haul

Summer 20 as rumoured nothing in terms of log-haul showing but I think this was expected with DSA and BHX gaining a flight each.

October Freight

Freight figures for October were 32,608 tonnes, +5.5% on Oct. 2017.
MAG's other two airports both saw negative figures. Manchester recorded 10,964 -3.1% and Stansted 21,493 -7.2% for the month.

A very tiny increase, that will drop next year due to no long haul to Mexico & Orlando by another 2% and we are still exploring the possibility of long haul scheduled flight which wdere promised within 5 years after Mag took over we should have gone with BA or Virgin.

With respect, long haul PAX is a dead duck. BA and Virgin? Not a chance. BHX with a larger local market, and bigger business base cannot sustain westbound long haul, and even eastbound long haul growth has stalled. The focus for long haul growth in central / northern England is now firmly focused on MAN, and MAG will see to that as regards EMA. Odd IT charter routes might come EMA's way in the future, but even there DSA appears to becoming the departure point of choice for the East Midlands and south / west Yorkshire.

Code shares with Brussels Airlines over BRU?

More positively, cargo is growing steadily, as tonnage declines at MAN. Another strategic move my MAG perhaps. Unless local authorities scupper this lucrative business through night bans / restriction this is EMA's (less glamourous) future growth area.
