The works on Tredogan Lane have been in the planning for at least two years. A contingency building is being built where one of the old farm buildings once stood. It is to incorporate a police building, a standby VCR and something to do with terminal ops.

If you want to know more, ask the MD - he supported the plan after coming on board in March.

Crazy plan if you ask me.

Cardiff (EGFF) closed.

Somebody parked a Dash 8 (or similar) on the runway at EGFF/CWL this lunchtime. Was it a busted gearleg or a blown tyre? Had half a dozen aircraft in a homemade stack over EXMOR with "Delay undetermined". Must've taken about 40 minutes to sort that lot out and to re-open the runway.

Who, what, how?

Believe it was FlyBe BE583 G-ECOV with nosewheel steering failure at end of runway.

Great to see the footings going in for the new Asda at Tredogan lane.
Once complete, you can triangluate with the Cardiff bay, Leckwith bay and Airport bay!!! By George, what a fab idea!!!

Is that why the Cardiff to Newcastle with Flybe was cancelled today?

Eastern were rubbing their hands

Hi guys/gals,

I'm new to this part of PRUNE, forst real time out of the ATC room!

Anyway, what are the chances of a Cardiff-Inverness/Aberdeen route in the future?

Many Thanks, Ian.

New ASDA is a great development, lets just hope the pax don't abuse the carpark! Though by the looks of it the diggers are starting work South-Side over by the fire trainer putting in the foundations for the multistory, about time really, even without a bigger terminal its madness in the summer, parking on the grass?! Can't be many International Airports where you park on the grass during the busy periods!

I was always led to believe that the multistrory was going to be a 2 level and over the existing car park.

Is the ASDA store going to be located in tredogan lane? It is the first i have heared of this?

I dont know if your aware but Cardiff airport fairly recently completed a buisness survey of desirable routes and if i remember correct Aberdeen finished top. So you would think this route would become a reality. It has been operated succesfully before. Flybe and eastern would probaly be the likely carriers if it did happen and you will probaly find out soon with flybe releasing there summer schedule.

Inverness i have no idea.

I think baby could do this route, if they had a B735 maybe... 4 or 5 times a week easily.

I believe that the servey can still be filled out. Current results can be found on the following link.

You Would If You Could - Latest Survey Results

If i was a betting man i would say that Flybe are the most likely takers for Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Aberdeen.

Dusseldorf and Frankfurt would either be operated if Flybe opened up a base from Cardiff or as a transit flight originating from Exeter as they don't currently get served from there.

Does anybody know when the summer 09 flights for Cardiff are going on sale?

Are flybe doing any Six Nations flights this year? They did a lot of them last year with a mixture of 146/EM4 and D8D.

As of yet nothing has been mentioned about putting on extra flights for the Rugby, or I have not heard anything.

This may change depending on the demand?

With regard to us doing new routes from cardiff, well this really is undetermined. I know that we have mentioned many times in the past that we are committed to developing cardiff with the aim of performing an overhaul at the airport and making in some way the same effect that we had in SOU, increasing the number of passengers and flights.

I think we will all have to see what the future holds, as always in this industry any future announcements will be kept strictly under raps until the latest possible time. In the current aviation climate this is no bad thing. I think we would all agree that development is needed at cardiff for passengers and the business traveller, but patience is needed in order to make sure flybe and Cardiff are a long term success.

Fingers crossed that Flybe will see the potential in CWL - unlike other carriers.................

Be great to see some German and / or French destinations added for Summer 2009.

Have also heard that Skybus will be back for Summer 2009 with x2 flights a day - similar to what Air Southwest did, early morning, late afternoon with onward connections to the Scilly Isles.

See that Aer Lingus are also selling the DUB-CWL and CWL-DUB sectors for the Six Nations - x3 A330's and x1 A321. All on their web page !!!!

The BBC were filming "Casualty" at CWL this morning / afternoon, what a catch CWL have made here - NOT !!!!!

Bit of a kick in the teeth as Casualty we all know is filmed in Holby aka Bristol - obviously they could not have filmed an Airport scene at BRS as it is too busy.................They took up the whole of the front of the terminal and had to ship in "walk on" actors - obviously they had checked out how busy CWL is on a Wednesday...............lucky they did not film the runway, with all the wind there would have been plenty of tumble weed to see !!!!!!

Come on CWL wake up, smell the roses and do a deal with an airline which will invest and develop CWL.

On another note no Orlando flights at all for Summer 2009........great, another loss to BRS !!!!! Cant believe that TOM/FCA have done this - they could go direct ex CWL or from BRS stop off at MAN for fuel - surely there is an extra cost here !!!!

Please, please, please give us some new airlines & routes !
