Arrivals hall...

Whilst waiting for pax from the latest canx KL today, noticed the arrivals hall has created its own, new acronym : - OOO.

3 out of the 4 vendors, 1 NCP paypoint, 1 urinal and 1 hand drier in gents, all TECH or Out Of Order.

The murel depicting the history of CWL is desperately out of date too. ie ''current'' airlines mentioned include Pan Am. And Air Wales are cited as a major player for the future of the place too.

Maybe too much time on my hands today.... but when I get a spare minute or two again I'll purchase an edible toothbrush from there to chew such things over with.......

Zoom has gone into administration.
Anyone know if thats why CWL-YVR is now delayed? Even though it came in on time. Apparently an a/c has been impounded in YYC and GLA

Flight has been removed from FIDS and flight is cancelled a press release will be made shortly i have heared.

Aircraft will not be re-fuelled by BP i have heared and not sure if the airport has inpounded the aircraft or not as i think they maybe worried about loosing the longhaul business if zoom does make it through this.

Not a nice scene at the airport i have heared with reports of a scuffle in departures along with announcement of all available security personel to attend departures.

Think we gunna have to wait and see the press release. I believe it's zoom uk that may have gone bankrupt but not confirmed

Zoom Airlines and Cardiff Airport

28 August 2008

Following today's announcement from Zoom Airlines that it is seeking creditor protection Cardiff Airport has stated that they will work with the airline and its administrator to assist Zoom to continue to operate their routes to Toronto and Vancouver from Cardiff.
These routes have proved extremely popular with travellers from Wales and Canada and have been expanded in the last 12 months. The problems experienced by Zoom are entirely due to the unprecedented rise in aviation fuel price, and are not as a result of any weakness in the market from Cardiff.
We have the greatest sympathy for Zoom and their passengers, and are confident that the problems will be resolved.
The Zoom flight Z4467 to Vancouver, expected to leave Cardiff International Airport at 1435 this afternoon has not departed at the airline's request.
The passengers boarded the aircraft but were later offloaded and asked to contact either their tour operator or their credit card company. Travellers who are booked on future flights are advised to follow the same procedures.

Lets hope that they sort it out as it would be a shame if they went under. I've not flown with them myself but they have provided a really good service from CWL to YYZ and YVR and it has been popular, as I understand. It would also be a shame if they went under as I believe CWL have had constant summer flights to YYZ with different airlines since they started in the late 70s. I think it all started with CPAir (I stand corrected if I'm wrong).

As for TartinTon, I don't understand why he/she is so negative re the possibility of Monarch flights from CWL, whether they be chartered or scheduled flights. We're all entitled to our opinion but can some people be less negative??

Zoom is no longer!! Its a shame about Zoom. Hopefully someone will jump in to over take the route. Possibly Air Transat may rethink the route or a holiday comapny like Thomas Cook!

RE TartinTon, I agree with Em0866 stop being negative, this airport needs a break and I hope you wash the trousers cause I bet you are gunna have to eat them!

Strange way to finish up? Leaving crews to continue operating only to be stranded at various airports with the aircraft.
Best of luck to all of the Zoom team.

I would seriously question whether the site is legitimate or not. Something about it doesn't look right....the wording and design does not seem very professional to me. But I maybe wrong and am sure someone will point this out if I am

Grrr

I feel it could be something. I feel it would do quite well as they will only be Beech 1900 aircraft which would be easy to fill.Lets hope it happens!

But I do see Cloud 1's point about it being a bit odd:
  1. The website does look a crappy
  2. The timetable is a bit odd aswell :
    Monday - 2 flights
    Tuesday-2 flights
    Wednesday-1 flight
    Thursday-2 flights
  3. Friday??Weekend??No flights??
  4. Also some flights are once a week which is impractical for business i.e. a flight to Swansea on a saturday and one flight a week to EMA! I just don't get it!
I did think it may be a virtual airline or summing but it says on the internet that they have a postal adress and everything? We will have to sit and find out.

I'd be suspicious of any airline with a "Time Table"

I have nothing wrong with them having one , The thing with the timetable is it is totally impractical and will shoot them selves in the feet with S***e times! So take a chill!

Question

Well at least they're registered with Companies House which has to be a positive. A pity they haven't considered BHD but I would say that!

To change the subject a little, what's happening with Fly For Beans? They were supposed to be up and running in June and still nothing. Have they had problems sourcing aircraft or is the whole thing a pipedream?

Why would anyone want to fly from CWL-LTN. The only connection traffic would be to lo-cost which is more than available at BRS.
How long is the journey time from LTN to central London? Would it really be worth it with a train service from anywhere in South Wales
Also someone forgot to put CWL on their route map

I'm usually very positive and supportive about flights in and from CWL. However, as has been said earlier, LTN is too far out of London to be worth it for the business market. Not only that what with an excellent and regular train service to Paddington throughout the week it would be difficult to compete

Planenut, my point being that if you are for real, then you set up a professional website, including a section with a proposed timetable.

Sounds like what they have is a table with a load of clocks on it!
