The de-icing teams need to get their act together too, if CWL wish to be taken seriously. I was flying one of the a/c diverted from BRS on the 18th. Waited about 2 hours to get de-iced. Next time I'm going to Exeter.
With the two de-icing rigs being busy all morning one had run out of fluid and therefore had to be re-filled which takes a while.
As all stations it is sheduled flights that get dealt with first and diversion aircraft are at the back of the queue with first come first served for diversion aircraft.
You may find this issue at every airport you diverted into if all aircraft required de-icing and even worse at the larger ones.

Used to get this problem at BRS with Rigs running out of de-icer or waiting to upload fluid, although not as common as it used to be, owing one handling agent puchasing two Rigs that heat the fluid as it operates, and another agent with a spare rig back at base preheated, ready to go.

Yes Cardiff does have a new Radar which has been erected and located on the southside of the airfield.
Does anyone know if this radar will provide any improved capabilities or is it a straight swap for the current radar?

Even better news
Number of airlines flying this summer to....
Bodrum - 4 (Onur, Thomas, Thomson, Viking) with 4 weekly flights
Dalaman - 5 (Onur, Saga, Thomas, Thomson, Viking) with 9 weekly flights
There must be enough demand for Turkey flights during winter surely?
Looking like a slightly busier summer/winter with lots of new flights:
Aer Lingus - Cork, Dublin (increased frequency)
BH Air - Sofia
Saga - Dalaman
Thomson - Antalya, Monastir
Viking - Bodrum, Dalaman

Must be very new flight with them as their flights are normally sold through Kiss flights unless it's a charter for one of the tour operators, possibly Goldtrail who they deal with quite a bit.
Having looked at the times it looks as though it is a turkish based carrier as they operate back to front and more than likely it would be saga airlines operating it and not viking.
I wouldn't bet on seeing a viking aircraft into Cardiff though, bristol only.
Thanks

It must be the old Saga/Viking as per last year. Was supposed to be mainly viking but in the end it was mostly SAGA.
I sure hope that SAGA have aquired a few more planes to pick up the slack if things go wrong.
But at least we have a good offering of Turkish flights this year.
Just need to see other destinations added now

On the subject of TCX next winter at CWL.
Can anyone work out what they are offering - is it a full time based unit.
They appear to be flying everyday but not sure what is shared with TOM.
Also cant see the 752 operation to SSH...is it returning?
The FUE on a saturday will be a popular one....just booked it!

TCX winter schedule remains as LPA/FUE/ACE/TFS ops on A320, but with some day changes Thu-Sun instead of Sun-Wed.
SSH will not be flown by TCX. AYT to start in Feb, but talk of possibly operating throughout the winter.
TOM are adding flights to TFS and SSH, similar to what has recently been picked up by them, but throughout the whole of winter. TCX will use TOM seats.
Extra TOM TFS/SSH ops by extra 738 based for 2 days.

Caaardiff- the web shows TCX operating flights out of CWL on Mondays (LPA) and Tuesdays (TFS) on the sample dates I have put in for Feb/March 2011?
With the addition of the AYT on wednesdays- looks like a full time based aircraft for parts of the winter.Good news if that is correct.
Can anyone from TCX confirm their operations as they stand at the mo for W10/11?

It appears TFS operates on a Fri from Nov-Feb, then changes to Tues in the middle of Feb.
Try booking Fri 18th Feb, it brings up Tues 22nd Feb only....
Try booking Tues 15th Feb, it then brings up Fri 18th Feb with 2 flights operating to TFS on that day. Is that around half term time?
LPA is indeed still on a Monday, my mistake.
FUE now ops on Sat, meaning Wednesdays will be even more quieter than the graveyard day of this year!
From what i hear the aircraft will be parked at CWL more or less all week, even if it has some days off.

bmibaby
I see bmibaby are up to their usual tricks again, trying to bring back the BFS and 2wice daily EDI for winter 2010/11...after they've handed all their passengers over to flybe? Never going to work - prime example, GLA!
Also, a reworked summer timetable with EDI only operating MWFSu...anyone know if something else is due to slot in? (unlikely)

I agree, it won't work, not after so many pax have 'converted' to BE.
And as for the EDI only operating 4 days a week, they'll probably throw in an unwanted Spanish route to fill the gap!
