Tcx W10/11

Having had a quick look at the recently published winter hols on their website,it appears that they are moving FUE to a saturday- that will be great and should sell better especially for those like me who goes every Feb half term for a week in the sun but has to travel on a weekend and wants to support my local airport. Its been ACE (sunday) for the past 6 years!

Couldnt find SSH with them next winter?
Anyone got any further news on TCX,s plans for W10/11

"Connecting with transatlantic flights in Dublin allows onward passengers to clear immigration quickly before reaching the USA which will make the journey shorter, easier and less stressful than flying from alternative airports such as Heathrow and Bristol."

How is a connection (No matter how seamless) in Dublin less stressful than a direct BRS service to New York, or direct LHR services to about 20 US cities?

Whilst any new routes is great and increase activity is welcome, it's hardly anything to get excited about, for me personally anyway.

What i would like to see is someone come in and do some summer leisure routes such as greece etc whereby the only choice at the moment is Thomson and Thomas Cook who are certainly not the cheapest price wise.

As i say, anything new is good but it's not anything worth getting excited about.

US connections

These are the kind of flights that the CWL needs if it cannot sustain direct links. Clearing immigraiton in Dublin will take the strain out of immigration in the US. Long queues at immigration are the worst thing to encounter after a long flight. A connecting service at DUB for JFK makes more sense than AMS. It is a quicker journey not just flight wise but also on arrival in the US. These connections through CWL need to marketed well on both sides of the pond to ensure that the American's know they can reach Wales much easier rather than travelling through England. This is good for both outbound and inbound business and tourism. Let's hope the WAG, Wales Tourist Board and the airport can all work together on this one.

New routes from Cardiff ?!

I am missing something? This is just the same flights under a different carrier label!
This is how bad things have got at CWL when we regard this as good news!

Frequency has increased from 16 flights per week at present to 20 per week under the new arrangement. Also the new service will allow Cardiff passengers to purchase connecting flights (and preclear US customs) on Aer Lingus services from Dublin to Boston, Chicago, New York and Orlando.

BRS were doing Dub connecting with the USA and beyond back in the 70's, still would prefer the Continental Direct to NWK especially now with the new luxury seating

By the way has the DC-8 left CWL yet that diverted in last night?

No it hasn't and is joined by another DC8 this evening.

Air Lingus/Aer Arann

I have to laugh at the comments on here in regards to this.

We will see the following increase.

Cork goes daily (currently not operating on some mid week rotations and not on saturdays)
Dublin goes 3 x daily except for Saturdays x 2 (currently operating 3 x daily but x 2 on certain mid-week days and x 1 on Saturday, x 2 Sundays)

There is an oppourtunity here now to get more passengers through our terminal which means they spend more in the terminal. If the routes sell good then further capacity increase could be available.

Past year we been complaining no good news and now we have good news there is still complaining.

Lets give credit where credit is due

Verry good question but how long is a piece of string.

Judging by previous years we may see less movements than in the past with year on year decrease.

Not sure who is going to be operating but i have read from a website

Irish Match (A few Aer Lingus Movements possibly on A330 & BmiBaby have been selling dublin on their website especially for this fixture).

Scotland Match (BmiBaby have been selling extra Edinburgh)

France Match (Blue Line movements & 1 Hamburgh International.

Same old smoke and mirrors news..things ARE bad at CWL..the lack of traffic (not destinations per se, as there are lots of destinations available via AMS) is plain to see. They might as well switch off the apron lights at weekends and save money on the electric bills. It would certainly appeal to those of us living nearby that suffer the continual glare of those lights 7 days a week.

I find the airport response is laughable, especially from someone titled
'head of air service development'

Spencer Birns, head of air service development at Cardiff Airport commented, ........."The USA connections and ease associated with clearing immigration in Dublin will appeal to business and leisure travellers and gives the market another way of reaching Orlando from Cardiff. We estimate travellers will save 5 hours on journey time using this service from Cardiff Airport rather than travelling down the M4 to fly from London.
"We urge the Welsh market to take advantage of the potential time and cost savings of travelling from Cardiff to Ireland and the USA."
Just what makes him think business travellers want to go solely to Orlando??
If they got their fingers out and really marketed CWL as a long-haul capable airport, they'd realise there's more than only Orlando in USA.

Oh I forgot, they sacked a shed load of firefighters so now they can't take
long haul widebodies except at Capt's discretion due to lack of
capability, so that'll never happen will it???

My next business trip stateside,I'll still be going out via Ams, because
Aer Arann (aka Aer Lingus Regional) ATR's are not reliable enough.

If you said you were driving to Bristol to go I'd say something toolbox, but to spend at least 2 hours round trip going the wrong way is very strange. Along with the cost of AF/KLM prices.(you must not be paying). 1 hour on an ATR to Dublin, preclearance, and to hop off in Chicago,Boston,N York or Orlando is a no brainer to me!The ATR's on this service are all less than 3 years old from April on, Making it one of the youngest fleets in Europe not to mention the very tired fokker 100's KLM use on that service. Where are your source to say the current route DUB suffers from delays?. Even if there is a tech or weather delay (which happen) there are 3 flights a day to Dublin making it possible to get the following flight. Maybe if they turn the Runway lights off you could get a good night sleep and see sense!
