That's a bit uncalled for, BYAI .

She wasn't, as it happens.

There was also one up in court on Thursday for smoking inflight in the toilet. Quite right too.

BYAI -

Have you still got a b in your bonnet over the BCN divert on the jet2 thread.
At least LS ops look at the whole picture and find the best way of solving a problem than just cancelling the flight like many other airlines, leaving pax stranded.

Thereby freeing up five rotations for the LBA a/c. Good move, but a long day for the EDI crew (unless crews are going to be dual based LBA and EDI )

latest leeds rumours in the airport:

a new charter carrier next summer (Thomas Cook, Flystar or Monarch)

a new low cost base (ryanair/flybe) or several new routes (easyjet)

plus don't know if its been mentioned on here but Flystar to operate Chambery charter again on a saturday from LBA through winter

I would think a new charter carrier would be highly likely as rumour elsewhere suggests that BMI won't have an aircraft spare next summer to continue the LBA charters.

As for a new lo-co:
I wonder whether any lo-co would want to come & play next summer with the airport probably about to turn into a building site!
The new owners have stated they want new routes & new airlines and they have already got new routes from Jet2 & Ryanair. Maybe someone new will dip their toe in the LBA water next summer but I would reckon summer 09 is more likely.

Has any one heard about a possible Canada rout by Globspan out of Leeds.
I have a cousin in Canada and he says he saw an article the other day in the Toronta news that a possible flight out of Leeds was being looked at by Globespan to Hamilton ..... if true wonder whats up with Doncaster, I thought they are flying out of there?

Globespan

The last thing you need is 200+ angry pax wandering around the terminal asking what day their transatlantic flight is going.

globespan to YYZ

In another thread we are advised that Globespan have had their ETOPS permission revoked and that they are closing 2 or 3 of their bases. It seems highly unlikely that they would start a new service from LBA

The TCX aircraft to be based at LBA is a "G" reg TCX A320 with TCX cabin crew and F/D operating them but probably being crewed from MAN. This is due to MYT/TCX retaining both B763's which free's up an A320 from MAN as the B767 will now operate the shorthaul high density routes.
