True Blue
I was just reading your post, I have to say there is a bit of a trend emerging. I mean most routes from on all airlines from Belfast are showing very poor loads. 50-65% type levels.
The credit crunch is some of it, but Easter 07 fell in April where as this year it was in March. Apart from that Belfast has major overcapacity as has been well documented here. Ryanair are giving the seats away and they are not getting much over 50% load.
As far as profits go I cant see that many airlines will make alot from Belfast area in the coming months!

BHX-BFS in April
Sorry for been a bit dense here but part of the reason for the drop in pax
on the BHX-BFS is the useless timings of the flights since April.
Winter 2007/8 saw the the BHX departure times as roughly: -
0700
1600
1900
Compared to summer 2008/9
0645
1220
2100 yep back in BHX at 2335 really attractive.
Easter also provides a boost and as this was in March this year & this probably accounts for about 500 of the loss but with these timings I can't see too much improvement over the summer.

since when has there been a flight to Las Vegas ex Belfast? I have not seen or heard of that so I'm guessing many others haven't either. That may explain the lack of numbers.
Who does it?, when does it go?

thomas cook send a330's from manchester and then on to las vegas. if you go on to the mytravel website, and go from belfast to las vegas as a holiday it will tell you the dates. there have been about 4 flights so far in march/april but the are going to continue in july and august

Overall it looks as if the only Belfast airline which has seen an increase in pax numbers is flybe. Maybe the aftermath of the BA Connect takeover has worked out in the end?
Looking at the baby routes the cardiff route might be better suited to an embraer of bmi regional if the pax numbers still go down. A 737 is a bit rediculous anyway on this route, I mean apart from people with family in Wales and a few Rugby nuts, who really wants to go to cardiff?

The three groups are kept apart, even the Mainline A321 operating out of MAN for Baby is Wet leased to them.
I hear Baby are looking a new fleet!!!!
Or possible a new owner!!!

The last Easyjet flight from Gdansk to Belfast arriving soon, and no sign of a replacement carrier. Shame to loose a route, but ultimately must not have been performing well enough. Travelled on the service in February, and one flight totally full, the other I'd reckon 90%+.
Noticed on the top of the Easyjet website a link for "Northern Ireland's favourite airline", is that on all the versions of the website, or just the UK??

CO to Newark
Travelled out here on Saturday with CO...apart from the hours delay, I have to say I was most impressed. The aircraft was one of the 757s now fitted with seat back IFE, legroom was good, and the flight was fine. Made up most of our delay by the time we got into Newwark, and the onward flight to MCO was easy too...have to say, the whole thing felt an easier ride than BE to LGW and then VS across.
And I had forgotten how good the 757 was...a pleasure to fly on. It's one of those aircraft that still has some personality amongst the carbon copies of today!

Only one 747 came last time along with a 757 and a C5 carrying Bushs' limousines. I suppose it depends how big an entourage he brings. He's only coming to see Robinson and McGuinness whereas last time it was a major summit with Blair.

BHD Officially on the market
Confirmation of all the previous gossip.
Given Ferrovial's debt mountain and the increasingly unlikely chance of any runway extension at BHD, this looks like a fire sale...
Ferrovial announce possible sale process for George Best Belfast City Airport (BCA)
As has been the subject of much media speculation over the last number of weeks, Ferrovial (100% shareholder of Belfast City Airport) has announced today that it is to begin a process, which may result in a sale of its BCA interests by the end of 2008.
Ferrovial have been pleased with the performance of the airport under their ownership since 2003 but in light of current strategic objectives within the Group, Ferrovial have decided to consider disposing of the Belfast City Airport asset.
It is anticipated that any change in ownership would not have any impact on the operational function or development plans for the airport as any owner – current or new – would want to grow the asset.
We shall provide all partners with a further update once the process has closed and potentially a new owner is announced. However, we would not anticipate this being announced until Q4 of this year.

One of the acting directors denied it was for sale a few weeks ago, that was when we knew it was true. I think the reasons given, that it does not fit the strategic objectives of the group should read, need the money, and that ' any owner – current or new – would want to grow the asset', should be, all that we promised our new operator will be someone elses problem when we sell it as we are not prepared to invest in the proposed development.
