2013????????

According to todays Gib Chronicle the Government say that the contractor hopes to hand over the terminal for departures on the 31st March.. and here`s the rub..` assuming all works have been completed` but goes on to say that the date for operations to commence fully after all testing is May

It does not say however which year this will take place in

Reschedule of Monarch flights to GIB

Since Monarch are not to base an A320 in MAN for the summer there is a change for Monarch flights to Gibraltar. The following will occur on Mondays and Fridays from 4th May with the plane operating a W pattern

ZB068 LTN-GIB 0715-1110
ZB575 GIB-MAN 1155-1350
ZB574 MAN-GIB 1455-1855
ZB063 GIB-LTN 1940-2125

LTN flights on all other days operating like last summer (ZB068/069, with ZB062/063 on Sunday) However from May LTN flights will not operate on Thursday or Saturday. From 22nd March there will be no Wednesday MAN-GIB flight (last one on 21st March). There will also be no Thursday or Sunday flight like last summer.

It is TBC if Monarch are to do MAN - GIB next winter; my guess would be that they will do it as they have said that they will put it on shortly.

I`m afraid they dont give the impression they are committed on either route to GIB. The arrival time into Gib from Man, is not very good, especially if you have to travel some distance into Spain. Sadly Malaga will look a better alternative.

Makes the new terminal look a trifle expensive

Will also happen from 30th March but only on fridays. Monday & Wednesday will still run as both morning flights until May. Wednesday is now bookable until 11th April.

Very quick SLF question.....

Going through GIB next week, presume arrival will be through new terminal - is there a duty free shop in arrivals area as the old terminal? Tend to get my goodies there rather than LHR as its half the price.

Presume also that departure will be from old terminal?

Thanks!

Yes there is a shop in the new arrivals hall and departures are still from the old terminal for the forseeable future. Hope this helps. Have a great flight.

Many thanks C3B. Looking forward to seeing inside the new terminal at long last - its been under construction for long enough! Also, my last time in the current Peninsular Lounge (granny's living room) coming home, though I said that last Autumn....

RE, Man-gib

Maybe easy's LPL route has hit the man route, easy offering 3 flights a week, must have had some effect , as monarch have had monopoly on this route for sometime in northwest, just a thought?

For those of you who who are not happy about Monarch's MAN-GIB route becoming seasonal well guess what. EasyJet's LPL-GIB route has also now become seasonal.

Why they have decided to do this I have no idea. Wonder if BMIbaby's EMA-GIB route will also be seasonal?

All that money spent on a new terminal - looks like very little activity this winter. BMIBaby might not be with us by the time winter comes and Monarch“s LTN-GIB down to three weekly. Just a thought as Monarch are not operating to Gib for the winter from Manchester wonder if easy might step in while not operating the LPL service. As I have said before still very quiet in this area of southern Europe hope for everybody“s sake it picks up but cannot see it personally especially after the budget announced yesterday in Spain.

It shouldn't be a surprise that neither MON or EZY are there for next winter. I've watched EZYs pricing for this winter and bar a few exceptions it's been £36 return incl taxes. That must have damaged MONs business and even with 1 in front of it would lose money.

From what I understand there are still a few routes to be launched by MON this winter yet.
