British Airways - 2
Paxing All Over The World
EI-BUD
Don't forget to add Manx Air to that list. They had four pairs per day at LHR and got bought up (for the second time) and rapidly shifted to LGW - and then disposed of (for the second time).
I suppose that's the free market but it's a also the direct result of slot constrained LHR and that is the fault of successive govts - but let's not start on that one again!
this has not been uncommon with BA in the case of airlines it has taken over

757's over and out
I assume that is it then?
G-CPES from Madrid landed 19.57
G-CPER from Barcelona landed 20.37
G-CPET from Edinburgh landed 20.50
Could be block times but taken from the BAA site.
Only flew BHX-JFK-BHX on the BA 757 but good memories, Mrs OP
was 20 weeks pregnant at the time, Toy Story one was the in-flight
movie and both flights packed in late November/early December.
Great plane.

A bit pointed just to say BA fined - you can't have a cartel of 1
In fact 11 airlines have been fined

It appears Airfrance-KLM's fine was triple that of BA's.
The European Commission imposed the biggest fine - 340m euros - on Air France-KLM, which was formed from a merger in 2004 and which now owns Martinair, which was also fined. British Airways was fined 104m euros, Cargolux Airlines 79.9m euros, Singapore Airlines 74.8m euros, SAS 70.2m euros, Cathay Pacific 57.1m euros, Japan Airlines 35.7m euros. Air Canada 21m euros.
Qantas and LAN Chile were both fined about 8m euros

More corruption in airline management.
Its a disease that is widespread in all the airlines. It probably happens in ticketing as well.
The crooks in management will mostly get away free. Yet they overcharge and fix prices so that they get bonuses etc.
The boards of these companies should be made to resign,at least for aiding corruption/pricefixing.

Where does all this fine money go ???? Into the EU which has not had its accounts ever signed off?? Perhaps to pay for pensions for the likes of the Kinnochs and Mandelson?
High time the EU was fined for wasting our money on two places for their meetings just to satisfy France by having Strasbourg as well as Brussels.

Makes Willie Walsh look like a bit of an idiot when he said that BA were an'airline in crisis'.Wonder how those crew who took unpaid leave or gave up a months salary to help the company feel now?

The money was put aside at the end of 2006, this has taken years to sort out.
Still not sure I agree with Lufty escaping the fines a la Virgin as they were first to rat out on their own cartel...

It doesn't really matter who I work for and who got fined more, who allegedly lured who etc etc........ This should be a highly prestigious, respectable management team , not resorting to back door shenanigans!! How do management expect to get respect from its workers when that is how they do business.
Its just a shameful day...again...

I don't think its a shameful reflection on our industry at all. Its highly hypocritical - cartels and price fixing exist everywhere you look.
The EU is one of the most corrupt organisations on the planet, and it sticks in my craw that they seem to think they can judge others. If they want to go on this sort of crusade fine, but lets have it across the board not just us and the car industry.
This is just another tax from an organisation thats got a rabid dislike of the airline industry.

I'm still not entirely sure how this "cartel" works.
Shipper walks into agents office, " How much can you send this for?
"2.00 a kilo"
Agent goes to an airline, "How much can you ship this for?
"1.20 a kilo plus fuel surcharge and handling etc", and then repeats that process and will suceed unless there is a capacity issue.
Just because you can match the price of a competiter does not make it a cartel.
Why are petrol prices the same no matter which garage you go to?
And surely IATA must be done as well, as IATA rates are fixed, so if that is not a cartel, nothing ever will be, all airlines in the world to be sued due to this.

After 30 odd years in Cargo nothing surprises me, however I am wondering how this cartel works as in my experience all the airlines involved where happy to 'negotiate' rates and under cut each other. Strikes me as a strange kind of cartel
