Cork was added very late this summer as well for some reason.
Yes flights on the route are usually only put on sale 2/3 months before the start of the season. For example I think flights for this summer were out on sale around Christmas, while flights for the winter were put on sale about the start of July. Flights for next summer will probably be on sale by Christmas.

New Handling agent.

Vancancies now advertised on the airport website for the new gate handling. This really will spread it thin. Three is too many me thinks.

Gate Aviation/handling

Who are they going to be handling? Just T3?

Gate Aviation

Gate Aviation as far as anyone is aware are only handling T3 at present, but other airlines, who may not be so happy with current service could very well move over I suppose. Have Gate actually obtained their license to handle and operate yet?

Ryanair

While all this talk of FR and a baseis all well and good and true, there is a market still untapped in terms of route network - we need to remember that while NCL has spare runway capacity, this cannot necessarily be said for apron and terminal space. I have been led to believe that NCL at certain times of the day is now capacity restricted in terms of terminal etc. The mentioned routes, could do very well if chosen carefully and operated at right frequency, though I would say no more than 3 aircraft at any future base. Personally, I do not think FR would select NCL in the current market, but never say never and as always people can be wrong!

Plenty of Apron space available. Just not on Pier. Stands 21 - 25 are empty most nights.

I would of thought any expansion would have come from Flybe / easy. Dont think we could have Ryanair, as well as Flybe, Jet 2 and easy. NCL has the right mix of airlines and although we all want to see expansion, I think bringing in FR would be a bad move.

'Capacity issues' must say from the punters view point I think NCL makes it's own problems. Take BRS for example they seem to cope well with what appears to be much less limited resource with or without stand capacity. Any how another example yesterday at NCL, approaching the end of a fine flight on an RJ700 I noted that we were being vectored half way to Norway for 25, which in itself is no cause for complaint & my wife looked quizzingly at me when I cursed at realising what was happening. I noted that we were probably around #3 in traffic & that she'd see where I was coming from on disembarkation. Sure enough remote stand & bus which only although only took 10 minutes but enough time to allow the discharge of 400+ punters in front at customs. To their credit all 4 posts were open, but zero common sense being applied, when two lines were set for our 'Non EU' visitors the result being that NCL appears to be the only airport that I have noted where being an 'Alien' results in preferential treatement in that processing time significantly less than for others The situation was not assisted by a jobsworth appearing to be the promoted customs tea lady wandering down the line half way down the pier shouting at individuals to switch off their mobiles immediately even though they were stuck in the pier some 5 minutes away from even the cattle pens. For my own part I just bit my lip, knowing that there is little one can do to increase processing volumes when arrival rates display a wave effect, but never the less feel that it's image that counts and that on this NCL are not yet there.

Emirates Statistics

Does anyone know where you can get statistics regarding EK NCL-DXB route?

I'm looking for pax breakdown in terms of O&D and connecting traffic and recent loads in terms of pax and cargo? Is information like this released, I know you can get pax stats on CAA?!

Surely the way immigration handle pax's cannot be blamed on the airport? Other than provide the facilities to do the job, which they have, they cannot control it any more? I have said in the past immigration seem to have different ways of doing things at each airport in the UK! For example returning to MAN from Moroco 1am in the morning no one there to meet us in immigration?? NCL seems to process every one full stop with a passport swipe where as others are happy for EU passports holders to give a quick flash of their photo!?!?

10 DME ARC I'm not blaming 'the airport' but immigration is surely an issue in any matrix concerning ultimate capacity issues. In respect of
NCL seems to process every one full stop with a passport swipe where as others are happy for EU passports holders to give a quick flash of their photo!?!?
then I too have noted the rather pedantic behaviour of those customs officers 'on guard' at NCL which I also noted was inconsistent when one considers the handling and expeditious proceedures of many other EU airports. Is this just another 'union issue'?

I've no idea where that information can be accessed. All I've seen is vague press releases giving a % figure for transfers and total figures of freight carried over a period.

I would think IATA would have the detailed breakdown but I'm not sure if these figures are published. May be too commercially sensitive.

EK info:

Pax loads you can get from CAA

Everything else you'd need to ask if the EK board whether they would be willing to divulge that, which I'd doubt.

At a guess, I'd say connecting traffic would be 80% + through Dubai though, perhaps even as high as 95%, but that's just gueeing on my behalf.

Thomsonfly will only be operating CUN and SFB in their long haul programme as far as I am aware - well according to web anyway??

OliWW at present NCL has based aircraft from EZY, T3, TOM, TCX and TOM. Depending on what period you're visiting will depend on what you see - many airlines fly in and out.

Re: Mon

Its true im afraid.. Monarch are completely withdrawing from Newcastle, whether its due to the credit crunch or not enough profit! Thomas Cook area manager confirmed this to me earlier =[=[

It seems Monarch may well just only be operating next years TCX charter to SFB, according to TCX.

Does anyone know if NCL will be affected by this strike by one of the handling agents?
