Good news! I thought the arrangement for NCL-JER was a bit odd this summer. 4 x weekly should prove popular and I'll definitely book a long weekend!
I am surprised BE aren't announcing a base though, despite mentioning it in press releases last year. Assuming things stay as they are there is enough to keep a couple of aircraft occupied and it would free up capacity in SOU, EXT and BHD. I think that in broad terms next year we will have:
2 x daily NCL-EXT
2 x daily NCL-BHD
3 x daily NCL-SOU
1 x weekly NCL-LIG
4 x weekly NCL-JER

And there is potential for a low fares operator, such as BE to take on NCL-CWL, NCL-ABZ, NCL-NWI amd some german/french destinations too.

Also, on the EK website it states that BE are a domestic transfer partner in the UK so that could generate some income if they do expand.

hope someone could resume flights to Rome, after EZY's demise..jet2 would be a good choice, as they already fly there from both MAN&LBA.

Cant see any loco doing CIA as I thought EZY pulled the route due to high landing charges and can only see if profitable from the likes on LTN.

but LS could however replace them with a new service to FCO, which is likely to happen if no one else is gonna step in..look at what EI has recently done from their new base in BFS. i'm quite sure it will happen the same in Ncl 'cause I believe EZY's service always performed pretty well until now.

I don't think it was to do with landing charges. All airlines had to reduce traffic into Ciampino because there was too much air traffic over Rome. Fiumcino is further out so wasn't affected. The two worst performing EZY routes, BFS and NCL went. Fell free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I have expected LS to capitalise on alot of the EZY and BE stubles of late, such as NCL-FCO and MAN-MAD or MAN-Krakow etc.

They really could be making massive moves this winter, but instead they seem to be very quite about it.

MUFC - Agree that LS should be picking up on the routes you mentioned, however my understanding from the people in the know that they are having problems sourcing suitable aircraft. They had planned to, for example, pick up Berlin when EZY pulled out from NCL but had problems finding a suitable aircraft for this and other planned routes.

I general not sure what LS are doing from NCL as they were to operate Malaga in the Winter but this has not happened and every other base has had the majority of Summer 08 routes released except for NCL.

On the BE front please see my post of a couple of months ago when they acknowledged that their base plans for NCL had been dropped.

jet2

I had heard that some routes from NCL not performing as expected. In particular LGW, and routes in direct competition with Easyjet such as Malaga and Palma also suffering due to overcapacity.
Perhaps they are reviewing the situation before releasing routes for summer 08, just as Easyjet did before they cut capacity from NCL for winter 07/08 being the last base to release its programme. I seem to remember reading somewhere that Murcia could be the only Jet 2 route from NCL in 2008 !!! Hope this is not to be the case of course.
In general the summer of 2008 looks a bit bleak, what with the charter cutbacks, in addition it is quite concevable that Easyjet may not reinstate the 2 aircraft being removed this winter.
So not even the Emirates new service would go anywhere near making up the overall potential lost passenger numbers. Sorry to be so negative. Please can someone put more positive thoughts on my observations.

Fl_dutchman dont know who provides your gossip but they are wrong.
Jet2 will have a busier summer next year than this year, all routes will be returning and there are plans to have 3x 757s and 2x 737s (with 1 757 possibly being a 767 if it turns up) Thre have always been big plans for NCL for Jet2 so I cant see MJV being the only route.
As for the PMIs and AGPs if you call an average load of 220 on a 235 seater 757 poor performance then yes they arnt doing good.
Most routes are busy, LGW is also gettin a bit busier now, my mate tells me they are now gettin the pax figures up, and u can now buy gatwick express tickets on the flight now apparently

His first destination, due to be launched in Spring 2008, will be Oklahoma as he's always been a big fan of the musical.

Further routes will follow but the new owners are adamant that New York will NOT be one of them as they don't like yellow taxis.

Newcastle's CEO was quoted as 'We are very pleased to hear that Gill Air will be flying again and I'm sure that they will be happy with the new Mail apron'.
GM quoted 'I hope they have a better on time performance that that lot FlyJet'.
The new EK Manager was quoted as 'Competition, pah, we've sold zillions of seats already so who cares'

Discuss.....

fldutchman - Jet2 are about to start a recruitment drive for cabin crew for their NCL base so this suggests busy times ahead for them. The rumour is that the long haul experiment for them will be from NCL.

On the EZY front I wouldn't be suprised if the two lost aircraft were not returned next summer. I know ive said it before but they don't seem to interested in expanding services from NCL - folks this is not been negative simply looking at the evidence provided by EZY.

Crewboi83 and ncle flights. Thanks for those more positive comments. I hope you are correct.

Hi there I know this is completley irrelavant to the current discussion but it is the correct thread. I have an amatuer photography site http://george.photos.me.uk which mostly features aircraft visiting NCL but other airports too. I update it plently. last update was A6-EKQ, shots of it landing on the 1st I would appreciate it if whenever you get a minute to go on and have a look around. If you see anything you particulary like you can rate or comment the photos. All is appreciated!

A little tip when your on there. If you want a better look at one of my photos click on it and that provides a clearer view.

Thanks in advance...

oh and while I'm here anyone know when our Finnair friends leave us to go back home ? A date would be appreciated as I am still to snap them! (well... a good photo lol)

With the drop in capacity with the loss of XLA/FJE and drop in based aircraft by EZY, will NCL see anything new to compensate the loss in flight choice? (Not including the long awaited link to the US!)
