FLYJET

The future of Flyjet has not yet been decided. As for their operation at NCL, it all depends on what future contracts they may be able to get, as work for Freedom/XL seems non-existent?! Hope they don't disappear, they seem quite an interesting operation and possibly could do well as a small, niche UK charter carrier. Certainly some of their previous operations have been interesting.

Looking forward to seeing winter Jet2 schedules, especially SSH etc. Just hope the airline does not expand too much too quickly as sometimes it can be detrimental to the overall success of an airline.

The future of FJE must have been decided. If they don't know what their doing in 5 months time, then i don't hold out much hope for them.

Speaking of FJE, see they have an indefinite delay at the moment on the PFO.

FJE

Delay re: FJE

Heard that the inbound from PFO is actually landing at Manchester, and people checking in at Newcastle for Arrecife (presumably the aircrafts next rotation) in the morning have a nice bus trip to Manchester to look forward too.... wasn't told why this decision was made.

And not connected with this thread, but what was the aircraft that went "tech" at Liverpool stranding 150 supporters who will not be going to Athens....??

Hmmm... suppose it's all revenue generation, wouldn't be hard to think of any number of more pressing projects that would assist the development & smooth running of NCL.
Is this convenience store going to have signs for those inbound pax with warnings as to what is able to be taken through secuity?

FJE delay is due to a/c aborting take off in PFO and leaking hydraulic fluid on the runway. Saw it happen! PFO was closed whilst they cleared the runway, but when we left the a/c was still sitting on the taxiway as PFO did not have a tow bar for a 757.

By the looks of it it was not going to be going anywhere soon.

Hmmm.... no so sure. Competion usually leads to lower prices, but in an already saturated market, it would surely only lead to casualties elsewhere.
Looking at this from another view point, just how many more based operations could NCL actually handle with current infra structure?

Thumbs up Ryanair & Flyjet.

As stated by Skyman771, there are pro's and cons when an airline is selecting a base. Could EGNT have handled another lcc with space now rather scarce. Imagine if the new "G" apron was increased in size, after sercurity checks in the main terminal you could then be bussed over to the souhtside! However, the 3 stands currently available are usually occupied by MNG F27 freighters and Jet2's 733 QC's for the mail flights.

FJE delay is due to a/c aborting take off in PFO and leaking hydraulic fluid on the runway. Saw it happen! PFO was closed whilst they cleared the runway, but when we left the a/c was still sitting on the taxiway as PFO did not have a tow bar for a 757.

Regarding the FJE Paphos arrival (due 19.10 yesterday evening) - this flight is now scheduled to land at 01.00 Friday morning into.... Manchester, with the pax getting bussed up to Newcastle.

The diversion to Manchester was known yesterday afternoon, but after the suggested aborted take-off from PFO and subsequent hydraulic problems, this has obvioulsy made the situation considerably worse..... it never rains does it....

Why not just increase the size of the current Apron (which is going to happen any way). "My understanding is that the southside will be developed for freight ops maybe aircraft maintenance one day". You can't just bus passengers over to the otherside of the airfield, its not as easy as that. How are you going to get luggage across there. You can't take passengers across the runway and you can't take them out the barriers because they are then leaving a "Restricted area", which means they have to be searched again. Same with luggage, once it has crossed the RZ line it would then have to screened again.

"G" Apron

My thoughts on the "G" apron were, shall we say a moment of deep imagination as I stated. The main apron could yet be developed by many a square metre!

There is many a way to overcome the points previously posted, so not such a daft thought as it may seem!

Don't forget there is still the request by Flybe to base 4 a/c at Newcastle. Did anyone hear the outcome of the discussions with the airport about this?

Jet2 from Murcia.

LS524 from Murcia to Newcastle diverted to Edinburgh due to "operational reasons" - and as we know that could be anything!

The aircraft positioned down from EDI to NCL to operate it earlier so just taking it back to EDI instead of NCL then position back.
