Maybe the credit card is to help pay for something airside that cost's 4 times more than what it does landside!!
Photo's are not required to be taken at NCL for outbound pax. This is because immigration authorites at other countries have enforced a rule that all NCL pax wear Newcastle FC shirts whilst travelling abroad!!

For info I don't work in security nor at NCL.
I agree with your points and, as previously posted, this all goes back to Lockerbie, the 'troubles' and our Politicians inability to admit that their reaction at that time was a kneejerk that is long overdue review.
Legislating the requirement for airside passes without a co-ordinated approach across the UK; i.e. allowing each individual airport to set up their own system, was crass and we are still suffering from that decision.
The lack of consitency at airports is due to the way in which the regulations are written and then enforced by DfT inspectors. I've experienced a 'clean' audit followed one day later by a 'random' visit in which a list of failures were notified. The inspectors then spent 3 weeks arguing as to who's interpretation of the regulations was correct - we were left not knowing whether we were legal or not for this time; subject to prosecution, closure etc.
Re common airside passes - you should try working on the ground at multiple UK airports as I used to. Air Crew passes would have been a joy! There is no chance that BA will restart NCL-LGW. The route lost BA a lot of money. BA have announced LGW-ABZ is going as the Texas oil routes are moving to LHR.
BA strategy at LGW seems to be based around leisure routes. Malta and Paphos from LGW just announced in addition to the tranche of GB routes and new destinations such as Poznan.
Next Summer BA is increasing the no of seats from LHR-NCL by viture that all but one service is a 321 with the other being 320. You wouldn't add that many seats if you were going to restart LGW which would aguably compete for some of the same PAX.

Is the current airbridge equipped stand capable of accommodating a A321? Or will NCL get more airbridges?!!!

Why should an airbridge that has handled A320's, 757,737's & other types, have a problem with an A321? In any event I seem to recall that A321's have operated the LHR on many instances in the past presumably served by the existing airbridge that BA actually paid for themselves.
As for any further airbridges, I doubt that any further additions are imminent. Given that the pier only serves an ever smaller percentage of the available stands then presumably there are greater priorities for any available funds insofar as pax access issues are concerned.
However... should a future LH carrier stipulate manadatory airbridge as part of service, then I'm sure that funds will materialise

Was there not something done to the airbridge stand that B A uses for LHR that restricts it to A320 and below. I think it happened when the 757 stopped being used on the route some time ago. However when it was re introduced they had to be parked elsewhere and passengers had to walk quite a distance to/from the aircraft. Cant remember the detail.
Its about time capacity on the LHR was increased but are you sure its an 321, The BA schedules show a 320 on all services next summer wheras a few weeks ago it was showing all 319s???.

Thats what I thought! When the stands were re-jigged at NCL, and 1 and 1A (?) added, did it not mean that 757 sixed aircraft could no longer use stand 3 (the BA airbridge stand)? Just strange that whenever a BA 757 does operate the LHR, it does not park on that stand!!!

All 6 daily departures are showing as a 321 in amadeus.
I believe its the wingspan that restricts 757's on stand 3 meaning they have to park on stand 4. 321's are ok on stand 3, they;ve already used it on the few occasions they were in last summer. Airbridge is ok on them as well.

As Opsguy says no problem with a 321 on the BA stand. Otherwise there would have been a nasty crunch on the 2 BA 321 arrivals I've been on.
The issue with 757s is wing span. Some time ago the stands were remarked so more props could be squeeze in further along the pier. BA stated at the time the largest aircraft scheduled in future would be a 321.
Don't expect to see BA 757s in future. As terminal 5 at LHR is containerise baggage only, the 757s will be dedicated on routes from T1 (short term), T3 medium term and long term project lauren if it is successful.

First edition of Airport Summer Charter Programme available on airport's website. No real surprises, very first draught - warning on it saying airlines have been slow to inform airport of final programmes. Still only January though.
I know this has been discussed before, but the OB NAP flight is listed as Air Bee, but that is not their code?!?

Looks like a few flights on there that havent been talked about yet?
IWD returns for a saturday night flight to las palmas
ECA returns on a tuesday morning to do a heraklion
ECA has two planes on the ground on a saturday night for a paphos
Im sure KM are to add another weekly flight to Malta on behalf of matlabargains sure its tuesdays and saturdays that they were planning.

Still lots of time for the programme to be finalised. Summer programmes always change right up until the very last minute, though the one available to view at the moment looks quite subdued compared to last year - though that might just be to me?!
