New security area is about the same size, Just relocated. The bookies is hardley noticed unless you stop for a drink at the pub. I went though security the other day and it was abit of a joke.
Three female security staff and one male. One female checking boarding cards and putting stuff though x-ray, 1 to search pax, 1 to search bags and the male was checking the moniter. Problem being is that when a male pax came through the scanner and it 'beeped' he had to leave the moniter stop the x-ray machine, search the pax then go back to checking the moniter!
Im not saying that it wasnt safe because no bags could go through the x-ray machine when he wasnt sitting there its just the fact that it was so slow and unprofessional!

First impressions of new security area - the approach is a little more cramped once you're through the sliding doors - boarding pass checks as usual although several were double checked with the scanner operator - are there new staff? There's a little more room once past the scanners. Only two scanners in operation this afternoon, although in three years of almost weekly travel early in morning and midday I've never seen any more than two in use. I wasn't aware of the individual procedure being any faster/lower than usual; queue lengths can vary markedly over short periods. A few more seats would be welcome for those replacing shoes, belts and personal ironmongery.

Airport timetable july 2007

Has anybody noticed that the airport timetable shows JET2 starting AMS from August 1st and also the 146 returning.

Have looked on jet2 website and flights to AMS are not shown so it this a mistake or is jet2 going to add AMS back from ncl?

Anybody heard anything about FR and more routes from NCL for this coming winter?

FR

Fr to Dublin and Girona for winter same frequency as summer on sale. Milan not on sale! EI to Dublin reduced to Su M W Th Fr.
Jet 2 AMS ??? They carried more pax per month on that route than their LGW service is currently doing.

Ei NCL-DUB

"EI to Dublin reduced to Su M W Th Fr." This hardly surprises me - the load factors on EI304/305 have been very low since this service started with the exception of the w/e. Fri DUB-NCL is generally full, and I presume that Sun NCL-DUB is too. Lounge at Gate 2 was well filled on Friday for late running return flight to DUB.

Futura 767

Air Italy - FUA seem to have a problem with this flight, not the first sub since the start of the season.

I'm deeply regretting flying to AGP with Jet2 in a few weeks. I see today they actually got people to the gate 40mins before t/o time and then announced a 2 hour delay. Jet2 and NCL. What a combination

EI

Flew DUB NCL on sat, cant have been more than 1/3 full. Another point is that they dont offer through tickets Newcastle - Dublin - USA like they do from other UK airports. Is this due to timings or what?

apparently thats the reason EI aren't doing so well, by the time it lands back into DUB (late afternoon during the week) all the transatlantic flights have already departed so it means you would have to nightstop in DUB and catch a connection the next day - i have a few friends who had to do that, bit of a pain really, therefore think the ryanair slot suit people much better and generally are pretty busy flights.

ash666 DUB is a large airport! Quite a range of connections from DUB

EI DUB Timings A mid afternoon 'one off' DUB flight operated by EI has always baffled me. The timing appears unlikely to attract much in way of business traffic, on a route upon which RYR had the volume pax, though ironically their timings too are far from perfect. It is very frustrating as it has been noted on previously, DUB has a US customs clearance facility, and in EI's previous life their NCL timings fitted in with their daily DUB - NYC flight. Given that LHR's image is if anything worsening, and lack of a direct NCL-NYC then EI appear to have missed an oportunity. I assume that a factor for EI to promote such a service with tolerable inter-connection timings would require DUB - NCL twice daily, and with overcapacity already existing it would put EI in an unenviable head to head with RYR.
