I picked up a booklet that is available as a PDF file from the airports website. The fire station is untouched as the taxiway is slightly closer to the runway than the 26 taxiway. The taxiway goes right through the middle of the compass swing bay.

The mid term car park is no better and is still basically a gravel car park and a disgrace even after money was spent on the road that runs through it.
Have to say that it is quite refreshing that criticism can be made about Luton on this forum without being abused.
There are some really strange sad characters who police the Southend thread. Any comment that is not 100% positive results in abuse being showered on poor old Luton. It must have something to do with my name that gets them going.
The problem is that some of the abuse is justified but we can take it here.
Lets hope that the airport upgrade at Luton is not too disruptive and the advantage of Luton’s fantastic location results in many more passengers.

I have to confess LTNman,
When I see some threads in these forum's I suddenly go into 'counteractive mode' which has resulted in me no doubt being HALE and LADICANS worst nightmare? If there is one thing I can not stand it is misinformation, which appears to be a trate by both groups spoke- person's! As an example I have observed this morning that all Wizzair arrivals have followed the route descending to the north of Luton before landing on runway 08. Departures resulted in the usual easterly departure route and so far not one single Wizzair has gone any where near Harpenden!
Then there was an article from a senior manager at London City who claimed that it was ridiculous that the likes of Southend, Luton, Gatwick etc are designated as London Airports yet are not in London. I wonder if he would quote the same sentiments to the LCY departing passengeres prior to them reaching their destinations at airports not actually in the cities they claim to serve? However I pointed out that the runway at London City is less than 5000 feet long and under ICAO is officially regarded as a STOLport!
Anyhow I don't consider any of my responses being offensive but admit I like the banter.

Letter in today's Luton on Sunday from the infamous John Tucker, who writes something without fail in a local paper every week.
"Sir - I was sitting in my dining room on Friday, September 14th. It was 6.09pm. Suddenly I heard screaming jet engines. I jumped up, went into the garden, to see an easyJet plane flying over.
It was about 200ft above the ground. Its engines at full throttle trying to get some height. What was it doing flying so low?
This is why I don't want Luton Airport to expand. I don't want a jet crash landing on my home."
He continues further babbling on.
Surely this comment is a big tissue of lies? Anyone who know's Luton will know his location of Bracklesham Gardens is no where near the flight path for departures or arrivals. It is about 2 miles from Runway 26.

Isn't there a playback website that can show the track of aircraft at precise moments in time?
I also live very close to Mr Tucker and heard no such thing - but considering someone else heard it, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
I gather he forgot to put a '0' at the end of his height, but I guess he can have a bit of artistic licence to get his point across. Especially as its illegal to be under 1,000ft of height unless you're departing or on an approach (were there any go arounds on this day?) And you certainly wouldn't be allowed in airspace at that altitude.

However all easyjet, Thomson, Monarch, Wizz show and it has an excellent replay facility. It is UK time - 1 and if you click on the aircraft it also trails back to the airport of departure.
Some airports have webtrax especially in the US and I know EMA has or had something similar.

Danny....there is a Flight Tracking facility on the Luton Airport website......look under 'About Us' there is a section on the Left Hand side and Flight Tracking' is there. Have fun !!!!
Just had a look - the offending aircraft was an easyJet Airbus A320; EZY2368; origin - Lisbon.
According to the playback at Breachwood Green it began to climb from 874ft (about 300 above) and was up to 1,655ft/142 knots at the airport boundary (about 1,100 above), but continued on the same heading.
Must've been a late go around. Looks like an aircraft was departing when the aircraft was flying over Breachwood Green. The aircraft gained height and speed; over Asda it was travelling at 2,485ft/183 knots.

Well, having a nice drink in a country pub outside Harpenden on Sat afternoon, clocked about 30+ arrivals onto 08 without anyone noticing around me any noise. A few did notice some 747s outbound from LHR which were much louder, suppose LADCAN put those in LTN stats???

They would normally fly a runway heading for an overshoot. That aircraft did a sharp right turn when it was over the lights. Something happened there to route the aircraft over Wigmore as the depature was almost over the motorway when the easjet turned.
