Flybe are advertsing up to 52 return flights between IOM & LGW a week this summer but are complianing about LGW costs! On yesterdays LTN IOM loads were good (and nice to see to JER LTN almost next door at same time), I wonder if a good timed AM & PM would not stop the need for a LCY which has been a joke for 6 months now?

The Evening Standard is reporting LHR will be 'diverting' 10,000 flights during Olympic period to STN & LTN. Sounds like all VVIP traffic and any extra charters. Looks like everyone is going to maxed out but all should be in place now with slot allocations etc.

Summer schedules: Judging by the last two days' schedules, not a bad start at all, considering the negative factors affecting the industry such as ever-increasing APD and general economic malaise.
I make it 18 or 19 EZY early morning departures before 0845, including the inbound Dortmund, GLA, EDI and BHD which are turned around and depart to other destinations. No less than 13 early morning Wizz arrivals on Monday the 26th - our eastern European friends are certainly doing their bit to maintain healthy traffic levels!
I noticed this morning that RYR had 3 inbounds with non-based aircraft (Gerona/Kaunas/Tenerife) in addition to the usual 4 based units.
Nice to see Adria are sending in CRJ900's, they remind me of the good old days when they sent DC9's and MD80's! And good to see LY back with 767-300's; I guess they will be sending the 777's on peak days as per last year.
Maybe LTN will get to 10 mmppa this year with the Olympic traffic?

Would have thought Stansted has the most to gain as the airport is well below capacity while Luton does not have much slack.
It wasn't that long ago that we were all licking our lips at the anticipated extra traffic a certain European cup final was going to generate. Luton got next to nothing while everything headed for the wheatfield’s of Essex.

Teams start arriving on July 16th (officially but a few before) then with Paralympics ending on 9th September, I think you will find it's almost 8 week period. Anyhow BAA would have hyped up figures but it was an indirect dig at LGW anyhow by BAA!

Trust me, the Paralympics will generate very little additional traffic. Heathrow must reduce its capacity around the Olympic to prevent wholesale disruption. The restricted air space, Typhoons at Northolt etc could possibly cause disruption to the London TMA, thus the need to move some flights.

Tel aviv flights with easyJet will increase to 9 a week from daily for winter 2012.....
There will be 2 flights a day on Mondays and Thursday's from the start of November. I wonder if this will signal even less flights for ElAl in the same period as they dramatically reduced their offering over this last winter.

Im not too sure it will worry El-Al too much as both airlines seems to be competing for different markets...
With the 2x A320's based at LTN that the easyJet uses on the longer routes, currently maxxed out operating 5x Weekly to SSH, 2x Weekly to Paphos and 7x Weekly to TLV. The airline will need to bring in an additional A320 to fly these two additonal rotations to Tel Aviv, and I wonder if this could mean we see further longer routes introduced this winter from LTN?
For people unaware and to pre-empt any questions asked, easyJet uses A320's on the airlines longer routes as the A319's do not have a central tank like other A319's and lack the range. Also the airline wants to get more bums on seats to operate these longer routes profitably.
The A320's usually do a short haul flight first thing in the morning, for example Luton to Belfast or Glasgow and back, then around 11am depart off to the above destinations, returning around 10-11pm at night.

That's strange the easyjet A319's i work on have the same fuel capacity as the A320's. The reason the A319's do not do the longer routes is they operate them at a lighter weight and also the galleys do not have as much equipement like ovens etc that the A320's have.

A319's do not have a central tank
red5, the only cabin differences are an extra loo down the back and the extra seats. Same poxy oven in the front on both the 319's and 320's
