You can see the aircraft easily from Wigmore Park if you walk towards the crash gates. In fact I would say that photo was taken from the park.

This photo was taken at the old fire dump before the aircraft was moved.

Rumour - Another airline on its way to LTN from STN?

Talking to a mate today who works for an independent tour operator specialising in Turkey and Northern Cyprus, they block buy a number of seats on Pegasus airlines...

He was going on at me, that he was hearing rumours from Pegasus that were going to be moving ops from Stansted to Luton, from the summer.

He said it hasn't been confirmed, but they are pushing the airline, urgently for a response... As they need to make arrangements to contact customers if this is the case.

Anyone else in the know, heard these rumours?

From what I can tell, they fly 2x daily to Istanbul (SAW), 2x weekly to Izmir and weekly to both Dalaman and Antalya. Through their Istanbul hub, they seem to offer a number of connections to Northern Cyprus and domestically in Turkey. All flights are operated by 737-800's.

Haven't heard this one but if they did come over (and Cyprus Airways) this would be a good kick in the teeth for Essex!
EZY might not be happy but then they complete Ok to Israel.

Would seem a bit daft now that the Atlasjet flights seem to be not happening.
Also most of the Turks / Turkish Cypriots in London live in the north-east so STN is more convenient than LTN

STN seem to be haemorrhaging airlines and routes at the moment. Any particular reason why LTN seem to be picking up these airlines, as well as other London airports?

The Cyprus, Israel, Turkey routes are already very popular out of LTN with several carriers competing on those routes already. All good for the customer!

RYANAIR ALGHERO

According to the new airport timetable for March-May Ryanair are going to operate twice weekly to Alghero on a Thursday and Sundayfrom the end of March. I donīt think Alghero has ever been a scheduled destination from Luton before.

SATURDAY MONARCH A300 PALMA

The Monarch A300 Saturday flight to f/t Palma this summer has been moved to an early evening slot - a much quieter time than the early afternoon which has been operated for quite a number of years.

London Luton to Majorca (Palma)
Dep 14:40, Arr 17:55, flight ZB 870

Majorca (Palma) to London Luton
Dep 18:55, Arr 20:20, flight ZB 871

Both are Saturday flights on the A300 and now not a 'W' pattern? So what route does it operate first from Gatwick? Taken directly from the MON web site for July.

Algehro is shown as available on the Ryanair web site, but not bookable.

I am sure G-AOVS was used on the Australia Womeera contract by Monarch?

Buster- great picture of the Viking!

OVS was I think BOAC, Lloyd, IAS, Redcoat although it might have done some Woomeras as a sub charter. NCF did most of them.

Alghero never has been a scheduled destination, but Court Line certainly went there in 70s.

I understand Pegasus are planning charters this summer - but hopefully they will transfer their schedules from Essex Rural too.

"but hopefully they will transfer their schedules from Essex Rural too"

Unlikely - STN is a winner for scheduled thanks to the huge Turkish / Kurdish community within a couple of miles of Tottenham Hale.

Communities exist in North London in Barnet, Enfield, Edmonton, Wood Green, Palmers Green, Islington, Stoke Newington, Haringey, Hackney & Tottenham, so it's about 50/50.

Now why would they come to Beds whilst they have established routes in Essex?

Because the charterer wants to use Luton I would suggest.

So are these Sunturk flights UK holiday chaters or VFR traffic back to Turkey.

We have had Pegasus 738s before on the former of course.
