Looking at the Surface Strategy document on the airport website: http://www.london-lutoninthecommunit...02012-2017.pdf (yes I know that looks like a typo but it isn't) the current forecast is for 9.6m pax in 2011, compared with 8.7m in 2010, an increase of 900,000 or over 10%.

Not bad considering the economic conditions, APD, the eurozone collapse and the like.

Just wondering what Essex Rural achieved in 2011?

runway08 - Won't LTN have the same issues as LHR/LGW? Why would an airline re-shudule because of border control staffing issues?

The Junction 10A improvement is in the Chancellor's Autumn Statement as being a scheme that will receive 'support'. Hopefully that will see it delivered in a fairly short time-frame.

Ryanair S12-another possible route??

Looking at the schedule for the four based units next summer and basing it on the fact that Kerry is still to be loaded(probably daily) there still appears a couple of gaps left as the result of two of the three Kaunas flights being operated by remote units.
Tue and Thur and Sun look to have the best possibilities for another route.
Anybody heard anything??

It is possible we might see new routes... But remember the likes of Ryanair and easyJet does operate a lot of W routes. They might fly to a destination in the morning with an LTN based aircraft and then fly on else where and only return back to base later in the day.

When I flew Ryanair to Dublin two or three years ago our flight arrived and was not flying back to LTN and instead going to LBA. There was another aircraft flying the Dublin to Luton leg about an hour later after our arrival.

Another example when I flew to Lisbon with easyJet a while back, was the aircraft was operating LTN-LIS-CDG-LIS-LTN. Gone are the days when aircraft simply go back and forth to base all day long.

Giles- understand what you are saying but was led to believe that all LTN Ryanair based a/c this summer were not operating W patterns-stand to be corrected though.
Schedule doesnt look completely accurate at the moment but looks like

This is only a rough guide as the timing is a bit out on some.
Thursday Kaunas flight is down as afternoon departure meaning 5 arrivals late at night-unlikely- so will probably go to a morning departure.
Assuming Kerry is daily, Tuesday ,Wednesday and Sunday have slots for something else unless they transfer some of the remote flights back to LTN based a/c

1 min 20 sec. That is not Luton?

East Anglian Film Archive
It's RAF Henlow, most of the hangars now gone. The Lincoln and Canberra were in store for the yet-to-be-opened RAF Museum. The aerobatic team are the red pelicans and the balloons at the end (helium, not hot air) are at Dunstable Downs.

Unfortunately I can remember most of the scenes around Luton.

Grrr

I did suggest that it could have been Henlow? The row of hangars looked familiar. I was there when I was really young to look at some of the aircraft that had/were to be used in the filming of the Battle of Britain.

So they are called 'Harpenden Sky' now?

Still the same old luddite nimbys that used to reside in LADACAN, etc.

Poor babies. There will always be someone to whine but money talks in the end. If the council can make more money from the expansion it will go ahead. 50 or 60 toffs in harpenden wont change that.

At a time where the country needs more jobs and money stifling aviation seems so stupid.

There is 1 (2?) cm of sleet this morning with 0C and there you go: 2+ hours of delays. Obviously winter preparation was done carefully again.

Same story, different year!
Sorry folks, the "snow was unexpected" or "heavier than expected" just doesn't wash anymore!

And when it melts, the tunnel will also flood no doupt!

Do you mean that this amount is decent (3 hours after it started "snowing")?
There's more in my fridge.

Airport is about 100-200ft above the level of the town, this can equate to hill fog and snow up top, mist and sleet below. Mr Bust can sometimes be in 100m IRVR whilst in my pen it is bear-ly cloudy.

Saw some pictures about the airport as well. It was around 1 cm (but definitely not more than 2 cm with temperature reported 0C or above through the day), which eventually melted by mid-day. Unfortunately 20+ aircraft (13 belonging to Wizz Air) had wait 4-5 hours for that to happen which does not mean that de-icing was at its best.

I can't wait for the day when it won't be +1C and half of our fleet will spend a whole day in Luton which will be a great Christmas gift for passengers of the subsequent 5-7 legs supposed to be operated by each aircraft.

Do we know who is building the new hotel on the old Boeing/Flight Safety Site? Moving along quickly so I assume the want it finished for Olympics. I know on the high end market you havn't got a chance of getting into the Luton Hoo Hotel around that time. VVIP handling/bookings I hear are very good at Signature & Harrods already.
