Had the same experiance on 18/9 at around the same time. I think there was an additional MON diversion from BHX but all but one passport gates were open. ePassport system still not up and running. Hopefully things will get better when this comes on-line.
It wasn't much of an issue anyhow because baggage was only just starting coming out once we got to the caracel.

Grrr

Last time I arrived at Gatwick, from on stand to getting in my car took 2 hours and my car was parked adjacent to the south terminal! Took longer than the flight from Malaga!

The Wizz LTN-BRQ is interesting. Is this from an existing LTN inbound from another route or is something else yet announced servicing this route?

Would imagine easy must be looking at a service from Gatwick in the not too distant future either.
That would be correct! But not necessarily from LGW?!

The queue up the hill in the morning seems to form earlier and earlier. Any hints as to why and when. It was there at 0530L (it used to form about 0600L) the other day and so it's getting more and more difficult to time these early reports.

Any constructive observations - other than get up even earlier!!

Cheers

Hi all

Flew on the ZB38 to MAH at 0715 on 30/08/10. Mostly the entire LTN experience was hassle-free with a couple of exceptions. Check in at 0515 was the quickest I have ever experienced at any airport anywhere, literally within a couple of minutes after entering the terminal. However, the walk along endless passages to the departure gate seemed endless (I can't remember the gate number) followed by a bus ride to a stand next to the Monarch hangar. I didn't know the airport still used the hangar stands for departures.

Arrival at 1315 two weeks later involved a long bus ride and a very short walk to an immigration desk in the old terminal, no delays at all, and we were through in a few seconds. However, we then had a 30 minute wait for our bags to arrive due to repeated problems with the carousel! This caused a build up of bags as around 4 flights were being handled by the same carousel.

Overall score about 7/10.

Bet the railings that force passengers to walk in the road doesn't help

I've done the walk from the train station up the hill to the airport before. The serious lack of both pedestrian signs (the only signs seem to be car-centric and send you the long way round) doesn't help, nor do the location of the crash barriers.

Doing it in broad daylight with a small amount of hand luggage, the walk is just about do-able. If it's dark, raiining or you have luggage weighing more than a few kg, you can completely forget it

Where would Flybe target from Luton without diluting BHX or LGW?

Wizz, more will come but they will need to get through the Winter. Test the dots on their website route plan. You can almost draw a line through central Europe on what goes East/West. If anymore bases come on-line in Eastern Europe then I'm sure LTN will benefit, if not, more increased capacity on existing routes.

Grrr

When the slots run out at Gatwick, where will easyJet then fly from? Lots of work going on behind the scenes to keep easyJet our prime customer.

Interesting news...

Anyone know what route this come at the expense of? In the way of another route being cut or having its frequencies being reduced...

Interesting how Ryanair fly to Kaunas and now Talin from LTN, and I am wondering is this is a warning shot across the the bows to Wizz Air. As these are two countries they have yet to tap into, and have recently started flying to Riga from LTN.

Tallinn

Could just be that Ryanair dont want to go head to head with Easy from STN on the route.
We should celebrate a new destination but as Giles says at the cost of what other route in the network.
Anybody heard the frequency of this route?

Ryanair V Wizz

Agree with you Giles about Ryanair and Wizz, they have up to now not really stepped on each others toes but Ryanair maybe thinks we will get in first this time! Might see Wizz fly from Lodz in Poland to Luton just to test the water so to speak. Cannot see if it is a Tallin based aircraft or Luton based as you cannot yet book flights but there is spare capacity at the Luton end over the winter period with no Murcia flights so would have thought they would be able to operate it with a Luton aircraft if they so wish. Good news though - yet another new destination even though Krakow is being dropped by easyJet at the end of October.

It will be LTN based a/c as there is no base in Tallin.

TLL flight times

Initially thought TLL is a very nice addition from LTN, but checking the flight times now, they are not so great: Sat/Mon/Wed only, leaving 7:45, return flight 12:55. Not so ideal for e.g. weekend trips. EZY's STN-TLL is daily and leaves in the afternoon. A somewhat half-hearted commitment then from Ryanair. These two seem the only TLL-UK flights, so this market might indeed be quite small, I guess AirBaltic is also taking a big portion via RIX to LGW (daily).

Or how about the EDI-TLL service announced by RYR at the same time, or estionian airlines to gatwick?
