A 737 was sent for storage on 1/11 at Southend but don't know if this was a Luton based frame.
Yes Luton does have two based A320 'TF & 'TI currently to cover SSH & TLV.
On another point, South Stands seem to have a few Biz again, are Ocean Sky starting to pick up some better business or are they overflow from the other FBO's?

There are now 18 departures a week to EDI loaded into the booking engine, but it still says BFS ends 30th June.
The revised total is 349 departures a week, carrying 4.5m pax (80% LF, 52 weeks p.a.)

Wizz have 106 flights scheduled next week to the 15 destinations they serve from Luton. Aside from Heathrow and Ryanair at Stansted, is there another foreign airline operating such an extensive schedule from a UK airport?

Regarding Wizz it was interesting to note that it looked like they had plans to have a base at Antalya but seem to have dropped it(reported on Air DB site)

Or it was a mistake on theairdb website (not uncommon) that accidently showed flights from every airport in the Wizz network to AYT?
Unless you have heard a rumour from elsewhere I would be very cautious about believing what you saw on theairdb. Would Wizz really fly from AYT to every other airport in their network?

Similar mistake earlier this year.
Luton is not alone in seeing an impact with the introduction of the winter schedules. The skies over southern England are somewhat quiet compared to previous recent winters!

I'm not sure if I have missed anything in this mammoth thread, but was just curious to know if Ryanair has parked up one of their four 738's based at the airport and not using it at the moment...
Flew out to Marrakech on Tuesday morning and saw all four 738's parked up in there usual parking spots by gates 1-4, but when looking in the departure board was only three FR departures that morning.
When landed back today at about 1.40pm, the crew and ground staff were busy preparing the aircraft for its next rotation, and there was another 738 parked next it (could have been the same aircraft parked their since Tuesday, but didn't note reg). All the steps removed and not in use atall. Ryanair's usual policy is to maximise the fleet usage...
I thought all four 738's were pretty much maxxed out for the winter timetable servicing all the new and existing routes!?

On a seprate note, just wanted to comment what a pleasure the airport was to use, both at about 5am on Tuesday morning and arriving back today at lunchtime.
It wasn't its usual busy and chaotic self, security took all of five mins to clear on Tuesday, and today from landing to being on the Central Storage car parking bus was all of 15mins!
I think this maybe a sign of the times for the airport, as I have travelled during the winter period other years early morning and has still been very busy. It did however make for a whole lot more pleasurable experience, and think todays numbers is what the terminal is really designed to deal with!
Only critisism is I notice they have removed more seating in departures area as you walk from Security into the main lounge area, and the duty-free store has now extended out onto the main floor next to the Ferrari raffle ticket stand! But wasn't an issue on this occassion!

Appears Windjet have dropped LGW flights for next summer .
Noted on the airDB site and checked on Windjets own site LGW has disappeared completely.
Does this mean good news for LTN or are they pulling London completely!!

giles, I think that this winter is going to be a reversion back to how busy airports were around 4 years ago.
The 'model' used by the low cost operators was based upon continual growth, only that is not going to happen this winter!
Survival is is their new 'model'!
I personally know that pilots will be working less and for some, they will be on considerably reduced terms and conditions until hopefully the market picks up next easter?

The latest CAA provisional figures show that movements are down 12.1% on a year ago and that passenger numbers are down 10.5%.
Indeed the level of activity indicated by both measures has not been experienced at Luton since March 2006.
Don't want to be a party-pooper, but the sequence of monthly results suggests that the decline in year-on-year figures still has some way to go.

True, although pax numbers for Oct were -8.4%, which was one of the smallest falls for several months.
Much of the decline can be attributed to the reduction of easyjet flights of 14% over recent months, and with a further 20% due to take place because of their spat over charges, the ongoing figures will make dismal reading.
