Luton-lyon
I don´t know if anybody else has noticed but on the Luton Airport timetable for October to December there is a twice weekly service to Lyon on Saturdays and Sundays operated by an easyJet B737 primarily for the skiers but no announcements have been made to my knowledge. Unfortunately there are a lot of anomalys in the timetable so this maybe just another one. Anybody got any information on this.

I used the new road into the tinminal complex for the first time recently. Fantastic access now and an abomination once you arrive at the last roundabout!
Was someone actually paid to think up such a nightmare close to the tinminal? Whoever actioned this plan should have given me a pen and paper, I could have done better for the price of a round of honey sarnies!
I know the tinminal is in a cul-de-sac, but accessing it by road is frankly now a life changing experience! Whoever said flying was dangerous probably has not visited the Luton tinminal complex by car this year!

easyJet Finally Realease LTN Spring Timetable
Just had an email from easyJet advising the LTN Spring Timetable has now been released...
Not really had a chance to see if and where routes have been reduced or cut. But if anyone is board, please have a look and let us know!

Understand your points fully but the question has to be asked as to what improvements have been made recently to LTN.
Saying that Albertis is spending money, if not reluctantly, on capital projects like replacing the aging CAT3 ILS. Also although it is hated by the uses of the airport money has been spent in the CTA on so called traffic improvments.

A very quick look at the released spring timetable doesn't look too bad. Apart from ATH, BFS what we already knew about , CAG seems the only other one pulled completely.
There are slight schedule reductions on EDI, GLA, GVA & CDG but nothing major. Could have been worse.
Note. This was only a quick scan through, so possibly I have missed something but initial reaction, reasonable.

Nice down from 3 to 2 daily rotations, even during the summer peak. The flight cut, or at least not yet on the booking system, is the 18.10 dep from LTN, which personally is a real pain for me!

With the start of the spring timetable, easy have taken the fight to El Al, by matching their departure time ex LTN, exactly. Both scheduled to depart at 1220, with El AL bringing back the 767 instead of the 757.

Also been having a quick look on the booking engine it seems Vienna and Montpellier have been dropped as well as some late night rotations to Malaga etc. but they can easily be put back on but both Berlin and Madrid are going to three times daily.

Vienna had already been scheduled to finish this month, going twice daily instead from LGW. Montpellier & Menorca( MAH only S10, 2 July-12 Sept) were short-lived last summer, as soon as they finished, Milan Malpensa started. MXP remains twice daily now, and for S10.

Hi Powerjet - should have known about Vienna sorry but Minorca (Mahon) bookable daily next summer from early July to middle Sept in competition with Monarch. Last month the airport lost a total of 21,478 passengers as the result of the demise of Sky Europe - a big hole to fill there.

Anyone shed any additional info about metal fences?
If spotters have been cutting holes in fences to take pictures, then no wonder the airport authorities are fighting back!
No smoke without fire, but I would love some 'insider' info as to whether this is a threat or a promise?
One has to wonder when it is busy approaching the tinminal and the pathetic drop off area, if folk have just cut open the fences just to gain access or exit from the place!
I guess when you have certain airlines operating to high security countries, then security is of paramount importance?

Ability Group signs in Luton

By Laura Chesters
Andreas Panayiatou’s Ability Group has signed up Hilton and is to develop a 250-bedroom hotel on a site next to London Luton Airport. The hotel will trade as a Hilton Garden Inn.
The property is located on Kimpton Road, just five minutes’ walk from the airport terminal building and next to Luton Parkway railway station.
Development of the site will start later in the year and the hotel is scheduled to open in 2011. Ability has appointed MDA Consultants as project managers.
The development is Ability’s fifth project with Hilton and the seventh in its hotel portfolio. In 2007, Ability and Hilton launched the UK’s first Doubletree by Hilton, in Cambridge. The pair are presently working on future hotel openings in Dunblane in Perthshire, Liverpool and Syon Park in west London.
Hilton Garden Inn is a service brand of Hilton's aimed at the mid-market traveller.
Andreas Panayiotou, Ability’s group chairman, said: “This is a superb location at the heart of Luton’s regeneration projects, next to the fast-growing airport and Luton Parkway station. “
