'Its not a franchise it's a wet lease by BA CityFlyer'

to aviation nerds and commercial fellas it might be a wet lease but when the plane is painted in BA colors and the cabin crew are in BA uniforms and the ticket is a BA ticket, to the punters its a BA flight, argue about the simantics of franchise if you want.

W12 Schedule

BA have made the following changes to there timetable from LCY for W12.

CMF - Service will restart in December, however will only operate 2 x Weekly for most of the schedule. Flights will op Saturday and Sunday only. I think they operated 4 x Weekly W11

EDI - An additional frequency will be added on a Monday and Tuesday.

BA8704 LCY 09:40 EDI 11:00 E90 12
BA8713 EDI 14:00 LCY 15:20 E90 12

FAO - Flights will not op W12. Operated 3 x Weekly W11

GVA - Service will restart in December, Flights will operate 4 x Weekly, with a single flight on a Monday anf Friday and 2 flights on a Sunday. Flights operated 7 x Weekly W11 with a daily service Monday to Friday and 2 flights on a Sunday.

IOM - The new up to 3 x Daily service announced yesterday is not showing as operating W12. Very possible that the schedule has not yet been loaded with it being a new route

NCE - Flights will not operate during the W12 season. Flights operated 3 x Weekly W11 (I think!!!)

Does anyone know if BACF are planning to make any more new route announcements?. I thought we would be seeing BACF add frequencies to routes especially since they are adding a E90 to the fleet in September. Are they planning to announce new winter routes in the coming weeks or months or are they planning to park up aircraft for the winter season?.

Given the lack of notice given for the IOM route, more announcements later regarding additions wouldn't surprise me and seem quite likely given the spare capacity.

In view of the recent posts relating to IOM also interested to see that BACF operated an IOM-PMI charter last Sunday. LCYK positioned in Saturday pm and operated out to PMI. I presume that they are also operating the PMI-IOM return this Sunday.

First pic of the Saab 2000 that is to be used for the IOM service has been posted on skyliner.

Skyliner - aviation news & more

Personally I think the Saab looks good in the BA livery.

Another recent changes to W12 schedule include:

IBZ & PMI - Flights will go from summer only to year round with 2 x weekly flights operating throughout W12

Ibiza in the winter - a bit dodgy I would have thought - the place closes down at the end of October similarly Minorca.

Monarch have maintained a weekly scheduled MAH flight in winter for quite a while. For ages it was from Luton, but now its from Gatwick. I guess BACF are trying to get the same market from Ibiza and Palma

Given that AF is not currently restructuring Cityjet operation, and it is now subject of a strategic review the likely outcomes are 1. Sell or 2. Restructure/Cost cut etc.

Starting to feel like a bmi/Lufthansa type scenario. In addition, BA will be clearly aware of Cityjet situation, so there will be no let up in LCY challenge for Cityjet.

Likewise for Belfast. I always wondered if Cityflyer could get the IOM based Saab to do Belfast-IOM- London City, a nice way to boost loads a bit. It'd be like the old British European days..

Are you really suggesting that a one-stop Belfast-LCY service would be competitive? LCY's selling point is time-saving, and a one-stop service throws all that away.

But the S2000 does have quite a lot of downtime should they want to experiment with a smaller route.

BHD LCY

In order for the LCY BHD route to work there would need to be an early morning arrival at LCY, which incurs high cost. When this was operated before by Cityjet (D28 a/c), it was an absolute flop, it started about the same time as FR arrived on STN BHD and EI on BFS LHR, which was all in all a very competitive time on the London routes.

I cant see it and BHD IOM LCY a non starter, as LC have operated BHD IOM short sector and it didnt work, so can't see any part of that route that would be lucrative.

Cityjet flopped because of sky high ticket prices, the 328s never were a cheap machine to run.

As for timing, whilst running a stop in the middle of the route would eat up time, there wont be a big time difference compared to jumping on an Orange Jumbo to Stansted or Gatwick, getting your train to Liverpool St/Victoria and then to Canary Wharf or the Bank area. Depends on where you're trying to get to of course, but it would avoid the hassle of rush hour public transport. Just my opinion anyway..

Anyone remember how BE fared when they flew BHD-IOM-LCY? I only ever flew the route direct, it did well each time I was on it, although that was 10 years ago
