As for light use of the aircraft, given they are not cheap to run I expect it balances out if not proves more viable. You never know they may be leaving a gap for increased freq if it works out well!

Really good news. Opening fares very good value including baggage and on-board catering. I would say if anymore would suffer it would be EI loosing business pax. As others have mentioned LCY has developed leisure routes including bucket & spade so leisure trade should happen also.

Does anyone have any data for how many passengers jetMagic carried when they were operating on the LCY route? I know it was a much smaller aircraft, ERJ-135, IIRC. But would still be interesting to know.

The route was short lived, great little airline though and brought us BHD ORK, which was warmly welcome and paved the way for consistent service on that route for quite a few years. But sadly no more.
To answer your question; here is the data;
First month of ops on ORK LCY was Sept 2003, last service Jan 2004. So almost 5 months service.
The stats;
Sept 2003 - 592 (part month)
Oct 2003 - 2021
Nov 2003 - 1898
Dec 2003 - 1981
Jan 2004 - 1662
All ops by Embraer, so not a huge amount of seats, I guess 145 on x2 daily flights mon - fri, and a Sunday evening, I think about 11 services a week each way so if that is right that would mean that 22 services per week.

Dusseldorf
Schedules currently show Dusseldorf can operate up to 3 weekly on Mondays/Wednesdays (AM) and Fridays (PM).
TFS also gets an extra weekly this winter.
Out of the 3 aircraft based, 2 operate on Tuesdays while there is a further 4 gaps including above 3. Based on busy weeks will vary at times.

ITs probably about 22 passengers per service. I think ops would have been on the ERJ-135 as the 145 wasn't certified for LCY. In fact jetMagic were the launch airline for LCY ERJ operations. The 135 seats "up to 37 passengers", so something around a 60% load, which is not so bad and probably approaching the kind of percentage load for viability, the yield is a different matter and 2003 was a very long time ago.
Its hard to believe that no-one attempted LCY in over a decade. I seem to have some recollection of cityJet at ORK in the 90s. Was that maybe an EMA flight? I think its mentioned in Pat Byrne's book. If I recall they lost their shirt from ORK that time, partly because support from SAAB was atrocious. Hopefully this time they will do well.

Also worth considering that LCY is a much more expanded and prominent airport now, stacks of new routes have been developed and the DUB route is now much bigger, that's marketing for an ORK service in itself. Just taking a look at how BE have done on BHD where the route had previously failed should tell us this will be a winner.

I really do hope so, I feel that this route and the arrival of a new airline is an excellent boost for the airport. Unfortunately I don't have great use for LCY, as friends are all Much closer to LHR.
Speaking of BHD, I wonder if that route will ever be seen again, or are the improved road networks and history of the route made it uneconomical.

From what I have heard via a decent source is that another route will make way for Dusseldorf any opinion on that?
AGP is possible but suspect unlikely, the gaps above make sense. A Monday/Friday service makes sense.
Perhaps they mean MUC going but it's only going for a few weeks!

As long as FR serve Berlin at SNN it wont appear at Cork. As for DUS it should do well however IAG takeover and oneworld will strengthen it as DUS is a good hub.
It was the best option.

As well as the extra EI Winter TFS, the seasonal weekly EI LPA flight is being extended into Summer 2016. Falcon holidays are expected to return to the ORK-LPA market for Summer 2016.

EI EDS tech fault?
I noticed the Ams to Ork was cancelled this evening and that EI DVI has come down from DUB via SNN to replace it for morning rotations. Was it a tech fault with aircraft? EI DVM lasted long time in ORK and since it was rotated out there have been two tech faults if that's what happened this eve. Now for EI DEO to make an appearance in ORK. Good news on Las Palmas will at least give FR comp! !
