Read the comments two posts up from Pat Dawson and Leo Varadkar. Would someone tell the Minister that the minimal growth in International traffic at Cork was not generated by flights to Krakow or East Midlands simply because the flights to Krakow don't start until November and the East Midland Flights which were due to start in September never got off the ground.

Anyone know when the Irish Examiner became a tabloid?
More lazy journalism on the second occasion in less then a week regarding the Irish Examiner. Apparently the Aer Lingus - Gatwick route which I informed you all sometime ago was being axed is being operated twice daily. The route hasn't operated twice daily since October 2010. Old Terminal at Cork
Heard of proposals to move the remaining staff from the old terminal at Cork. Many of the admin staff have continued to work there since 2006. It will then be totally unoccupied and will probably serve as a reminder of a bygone era.

Who,is left in the old building, obviously admin, but not sure where they could be housed in the terminal? Doesn't seem to be much room for offices anywhere really, unless they are taking space in the business park?
Shame that EI are axing LGW, seems that even big routes like London can't support more than one carrier into the same airport. I would have thought that a twice daily ATR, or a mix of A319/320 and an ATR would be a good option, but apparently LGW is not a fan of aircraft with less than 150 seats, much less turboprops. FRs mid day service ruins the route becuase the only way to compete wold be to offer the possibility of a day return, or an early arrival and late departure to facilitate connections. In fairness EI did try this, but 2 A320s a day was too much. It's a shame.

With LGW charging £1400 per flight that lands weather it's an ATR Dash8-400 A320 or A380 it's still the same price, they are forcing out smaller carriers to make available good slots for new larger carriers to come in therefore increasing passenger numbers but the airport still does no operate to full capacity like LHR

It seems there's room for offices in the basement floor of the new terminal building. Proposals are by no means certain to go ahead although the cost of housing a relatively small number of staff in the old terminal is not good value.

Oh right, interesting, can't imagine there would be much natural daylight down therei wonder how much SIPTU will extract from the DAA for that!
I guess the old terminal will then be allowed to fall into disrepair, although demolishing it and using the area for parking, either for aircraft or cars would surely be the long term solution. I can't see ORK ever requiring two terminals, whatever MOL and Ryanair may say in the press from time to time.
