Saw on the Irish Examiner that Ml Cawley said East Midlands - Cork route was a mistake on their part in sheduling terms, , the aircraft that was earmarked for it is now going to be used on a EMA - Poznan route. Sorry I don't have a link for the report.

Thats the biggest cover up story I have saw from FR in a while.
1 - EMA-Poznan not announced and Cork has being removed for weeks.
2 - If the aircraft was being used for EMA-Poznan why did Ryanair have a Cork based a/c operating some of the flights from November.
3 - Was did it take around 6 to 8 weeks that they made a mistake.
FR didn't expect questions to be asked why the route was being dropped.
Its simple there was no deamnd for it.

cork airport gone back to 1961 no ILS TO R17 ONLY VOR DME and to add to problems EIR at72 go tech EDI canx in and out nearly full plane load left stranded

I agree Francis, also it gives FR a chance to have a further go at Wizz out of EMA. Lazy journo's again not askinf the questions. Afraid what ever freebie's that are on the go might dry up.

IAA need to explain why it's taking so long to commission the ILS on 17. It's not routine maintenance this time. According to Cork Evening Echo Aerlingus paid 18,000 euro for taxis to ferry pax from Dublin to Cork after a flight from ALC diverted to Dublin on Wednesday night. More diversions inevitable if ILS isn't restored.

I bet if there was a CCTV camera out of action in the area of Fort Knox Tower there would be very little time lost in getting the contractor back in to fix it double quick time.
We could do with a bit of that speed in getting the ILS working again!

The cost of 18,000 euro to taxi pax from Dublin to Cork after diversion ts enormus it would be cheaper to put pax up in hotels and as the plane was goin back to cork fly them back next morning by announcing the cost were EI telling the IAA get off their asses and get it fixed

I have to agree with Ryan2000 on the FR-W6 developments. A lot of you are forgetting how many poles travel from outside of Cork to fly Wizz, they're very good at supporting their own and even though to many FR will be the winner here I wouldn't hold you breath, Wizz will give them a good run for their money.

WRONG. The longer the pax are in Aer Lingus hands the more they are entitled too, if they had been put up in hotels they would also have to have been fed. 18,000 is dear but like EI-EIDW says not many bus companies are available after 2am (flight landed at 1.44am).
IAA are waiting for a private contractor to test the runway with their own aircraft before allowing the ILS to be opened to Commercial traffic as is standard op, just so happens it is unavailable to test the runway before Sept.

Several aircraft diverting from Cork due to the lack of CAT 2. Surprised that no calibrator is available untill next month to test it.
Has the potential to cost airlines a small fortune if this miserable weather stays around.

There are plenty civil and military calibrators around. I bet the expense is a factor. One thing is for sure, if it was the landing system of that favoured airfield in the midwest which was giving trouble it would have been sorted in a matter of a few days.
Yet again, today has turned into another day of abject shame for Cork Airport with aviators being put into the position of having to attempt tailwind approaches in low visibility and winds out of limits, lengthy holds and the almost inevitable diversion later to other competitor airfields. All while Minisiter Varadkar says the priority must be rest with the midwest airfield's independence.
Another buffoon of a Transport Minister in a long, long line of buffoon Transport Ministers.
I think that it is high time there was a forensic investigation into the operations of the DAA and IAA as something about this Cork ILS thing stinks to high heaven to me.
