Would be great to see IB Express on Madrid-Cork.
Hope we will see CityJet on Frankfurt and Brussels from 2016 onwards.
Thing is with just 2 EI services a week to BRU just isn`t a practical schedule for people.
It would be better for a smaller jet with more frequent services. People would`t bother then with the Aircoach to EIDW or via LHR.

London City Loads

Not sure this route will last.I have used the service four times with loads of approx 25 to 30 passengers Cork to London and approx 50 on the return. Its going to be a case of use it or loose it. Airport management or the DAA cant be blamed if it fails.

Cityjet would need a 2nd aircraft overnighting in Cork to serve Brussels or Frankfurt. I couldn't imagine they would commit to that without having significant data from the London City route to suggest a 2nd aircraft is financially viable.

The reason why La Rochelle and Nantes are easy is because they allow the aircraft to be used during the period London City is closed (13:00 Saturday to 12:30 Sunday). Those timings are ideal for leisure routes but pretty useless for BRU and FRA, which would have a predominantly business/connecting market.

Also, any airline thinking of going to Brussels will most likely wait until the route is gone for 12 months so that the route incentives kick in again (although that is admittedly waivable if the airport authorities regard that it provides a significant commercial benefit).

ORK-FUE not bookable for next summer. FR say schedule is fully released.

It is still relatively early days for this new route. Think it might be more popular if they offered a earlier LCY departure and a later departure from ORK.

With WX interested in operating new routes from ORK to Europe. One option could be to operate a early departure from both ORK and LCY, with the 2 aircraft operating the triangle pattern LCY-ORK-XXX-LCY and ORK-LCY-XXX-ORK.

I hope it will settle down. A few people I know who have stuck to their traditional EI/FR routes for years have not thought that LCY or a 'new' carrier "was for them". A friend persuaded his mother to try it last week on my recommendation and she's rhapsodic in her praise. Loved the smaller plane, service and ease of using LCY both ways. My anecdotal evidence is that this is happening more and more and the repeat business is growing exponentially.

Negetive, Ryanair have not said Summer 2016 is fully loaded, nor have they released any Irish Schedule outside of Dublin officially.

FUE is likely dropped though, I don't doubt that. Pisa is also gone.

How is ORK-AMS doing loads wise? Is there any possibility that KLM coming on the Dublin route (see Dublin thread rumour) would affect ORK in any way?

How would it affect it? Different market in Dublin and higher prices with KLM. Unless the codeshare is dropped, which I can't see happening. I'd imagine the KLM rumour is wishful thinking.

KLM coming on AMS-DUB has been rumoured for years, but nothing has ever come of it.

While there may be some concerns in KLM after Aer Lingus was absorbed by IAG, I would imagine they would adopt a cautious strategy. In particular, launching when Ryanair are about to add serious extra capacity to the route seems unlikely.

Hi
I use ORK/AMS/ORK at least once a week I've never seen it with low loads. And from my experience the yield must be half decent also.
My company book the flights through KLM. I wonder what slice of the cake EI get on such tickets??
How are WX getting on into LCY? Any sign of a consistent good LF?

It's movements, passenger traffic is not released to media until year end for Cork.

Take September, movements were down by almost 12% while passenger traffic dipped just over 2%.

IAA Counts aircraft movements as that's their business,

Cork Airport Authority count passengers as that's their business.


They is not always a direct correlation.
