Looking forward to hearing the new routes being announced for Cork.
Personally, it would be great to see an increase in the London Gatwick route to double daily and new Ryanair destinations to
London Luton,
Paris
Marseille
Berlin
Hamburg
Rome
Madrid
a summer route to Greece and a winter route to Morocco.
Sorry, In no way am I wanting to be portrayed as disrespectful but can you try send on whatever you're smoking? That list is fanciful! Foremost we need stability and organic growth.

Could see what EIR plan for 2014 this week, new routes due to be announced. Guessing that it will involve the extra ORK aircraft that was spoken of a few months ago.

Aer Lingus 2014 schedules.

Barcelona 4 to 5 weekly
Munich 3 to 2 weekly but Saturday times currently show a W from MUC (departs ORK 11.30, returns 23.55)
Lisbon has being removed from Sale and NCE moved to replace its slots.

There won't be any w-pattern from Munich, they haven't loaded the outbound time for the Sat flight. Given that Lisbon increased during peak periods last July and was pretty busy throughout the Summer, I'd be surprised if it didn't make the summer schedule. However as well as operating a W-pattern to Shannon, it seems Aer Lingus will be operating a twice weekly w-pattern from Malaga using a Cork aircraft. All routes are on sale with increases to Barcelona, reduction to Munich (expected) and so far Lisbon remains offsale, however with a spare Saturday afternoon slot, it could return as 1 weekly.

Lisbon actually had good loads even into October this year, so it would be a surprise if it went.

That said, Sunway don't seem to be selling it from Cork for next year at the moment and if it lost the current slots, it would be a lot less attractive for city breaks.

I don't know if I would read too much into the timetable at the moment. Aer Lingus have a habit of continually rejigging it.

I also wait to see what they will do with SNN-FAO now that Ryanair have gone on the route.

I can't work out where those Ws through AGP would be going either, as there is no corresponding flight to Belfast or Dublin.

I have absolutely no idea how to create a link but if anyone cares to take a look at The Southern Star newspaper website and find a piece by it's commentator, Archon, you will read some interesting remarks about the state of play at Cork Airport.

Read for yourself and form your own view.

I think ORK - DUB twice daily with Flybe's dornier 328 aircraft would work very well also and would allow people living in the Cork area to connect to Dublin's range of transatlantic services.
If there was a market don't you think that Aer Lingus would have Aer Arran doing it for them?

Read the article below about how smaller Aircraft can sometimes be more expensive.
http://www.pprune.org/airlines-airpo...ml#post8012688
Big business may not be cost sensitive but most passengers are.

The Southern Star article its interesting.

In 2008 the figure of 220 million was mentioned as the debt in Cork.

Does anyone know with any accuracy what the current situation is?

The DAA are holding them back
Every airport seems to be convinced that someone else is out to get them but I feel its not so simple.

The DAA are only hanging around because the money borrowed to refurbish Cork airport is still listed on their books. And they want their money back.

The final figure will be a political decision.

Not if other markets are more profitable. In particular, ORK wouldn't provide as much onward feed as other routes seeing as it already has good hub coverage.

As goes that specific proposal, Logan don't have craft based in Dublin and the CFN-DUB plane is at full utilisation due to CFN-GLA anyway so the base costs would be quite high.

Just to let you guys who don't know the A321 is back at Cork for the winter season, it will mean we'll have 4 aircraft based for the Winter with the A321 operating peak services to London/Heathrow and an A320 off-peak, EI-DEE positioned down before 11 this morning and EI-CPH arrived into Cork last night after swapping with EI-DVN in Heathrow last night. Fairly efficient use of aircraft when they're going to be lying around in the Winter anyway it'll mean if theres tech faults with the A321 it can operate delayed and it won't affect the whole Heathrow schedule that day. Management at Cork hoping this ''test'' for it this Winter will lead to the A321 being used in the Summer also however the A321 is perfect for use in Dublin during high season on busy flights for example Nice. At least we have variety again at Cork now and there's a little more parking charges for the CAA.

From the schedule it seems that the A321 operates the 710 and 725 pretty consistently over the winter on weekdays. Other flights are more random and appear to vary week by week. I don't know if the A321 goes to the canaries on weekends?

As you say the A321 is pretty maxed out from DUB over the summer, especially now that they have only the three of them.

Any news of the ATR-600s are going to be seen at ORK anyone soon?

It doesn't seem to do anything on a Saturday however with Geneva back on the 14 of December and going by the fact its sold out on the 14th I suppose they could use it on that and maybe Munich on Saturday mornings particularly for high ski-season! It's not scheduled for Lanzarote at the moment however that could change.

Any news of the ATR-600s are going to be seen at ORK anyone soon?
I haven't heard anything, apparently the whole Aer Arann fleet will be replaced with them by March of 2014, so maybe we will see them here in the New Year, have heard the glass cockpit concept on them is nearly a replica of the Airbus without the joystick!

I don't think we'll see a huge number of new destinations, perhaps 2 or 3. Frequency increases on existing routes may be the order of the day.

I suspect we'll see a bit of extra frequency to London, possibly extra frequency to Liverpool and one new UK destination.

They may take on the old EI route to Rome and I would see somewhere in North-Western Germany as being in the mix (any of Hahn, Weeze, Dortmund or Cologne/Bonn).

There may be one complete curveball too (ass with Shannon-Kaunas). Maybe a route to one of Sardinia, Sicily or Malta.

I expected the Ryanair announcement this morning to be a "DAA" announcement. Unfortunately it seems to be a Dublin announcement - so every Irish airport bar Cork (and Kerry) have got FR growth for next year. What the hell is happening up there?

Have you seen the so called growth at Dublin? Hopefully we'll see reaction from Aer Lingus at Cork.
