EI Rosters Dispute.

Really getting annoying now how the LRC - Aer Lingus Managment, Crew & SIPTU and the other unions involved, havent sorted out the rosters dispute still!, 2 more Cork crew removed from the payroll this morning out of 130 employed Cabin crew at Cork, only 8 still remain on the payroll. Air Berlin operated EI710, EI711, EI712 & EI715 to LHR today, will be going back to germany tonight & Monarch operated AMS (Morning Service) & TFS today. Aer Lingus aircraft where used to operate, CDG, LGW, AMS (Evening Service) & LHR (EI722, EI723, EI724, EI725).

Two EI aircraft havent been used for over 9 days now and are parked over by the Servisair & DHL hangers.

Just heard that the old terminal will be cleaned up for an art exhibition which will be on in March. Heard about it on Red fm at 6:00.

Does anyone have anymore information or sources about this?
I suspect its to do with the 60th anniversery which officaly takes place on Oct 16 2011, but looking inside the old terminal its a bit of a tip until u go upstairs to the offices floor so they have a job on their hands.

MUC Cancelled tommorow know too, which leads me to suggest that the ORK schedule will go like this tommorow.

(EI/MAINLINE) - ARRIVALS:

10:25 - EI841 - AMSTERDAM - MONARCH A321
11:10 - EI711 - LONDON/LHR - CHARTERED A/C (WILL BE DELIVERED OVER-NIGHT)

14:50 - EI815 - LONDON/LGW - AS NORMAL (UK CREW)
15:05 - EI823 - PARIS (CDG) - MONARCH A321

19:20 - EI723 - LONDON/LHR - CHARTERED A/C

22:05 - EI877 - LANZAROTE - AS NORMAL (CORK CREW & EI A/C)
23:25 - EI725 - LONDON/LHR - CHARTERED A/C

Every cloud has its silver lining though eh? Was on EI710 yesterday, Air Berlin plane...free tea/coffee and savage looking stewardesses! Far better looking than the cranky EI birds!

According to yesterdays Irish Examiner, the old terminal building is to host 'a major international art event'.
'Some of the worlds leading and emerging international artists. musicians and theorists have been lined up to take part in Terminal Convention 2011'
It is to run from March 17 and March 27.

Cork Airport 50th anniversary

Sorry Jack1985 to be correcting you but Cork is celebrating its 50th this year and NOT its 60th as you claimed. Cork Airport was opened 16th OCTOBER 1961 and not 16th October 1951........

Sorry , yes your 100% correct thanks for spotting that out sorry if I misled anyone. Just too let you guys now today Aer Lingus again are only using 1 ac and the other 2 parked up for the day , a Thomas Cook & Monarch operating for the other 2 ac today. Cancellations expected for the Paris tommorow & the Malaga on Sunday if the strike prevales. Hopefully it will be sorted out today/tommorow. Stand 9 (Gate 5) is out of action today electrical tests being carried out on the air-bridge.

@jack1985 SIPTU were not involved in this dispute. Only IMPACT.

DISPUTE OVER. THAT'S OFFICIAL. Reckon it might take 24 hours and more to get schedule all back to schedule.

It sounds like Aer Lingus have had some kind of Airbridge incident in Dublin this afternoon. I wonder if they'll stop using them there too now...

With Aer Arann cutting their flight schedule to Luton in favour of Southend. It seems now might be a good time by Cork Airport to try to entice Easy back to Cork on the Luton route. This was a route that was operated as far back as the 1980's by Ryanair on their old BAC 1-111's. Any prospects?

No chance. EasyJet were badly burned the last time they tried to get a foothold in the south. Ryanair jacked up frequencies and slashed fares. Te same would happen again.

Ryanair 2011

Ryanair have added:
Alicante - Friday Flight - ALC based a/c.
That will make up for Aer Lingus dropping one weekly to ALC.

As far as I know the split is largely as follows:
Ground staff - Siptu
Cabin Crew - Impact
Pilots - Pilots union (I can't recall what its called)

Thanks for pointing that out, makes the situation clearer, as i said yesterday the cancellations for today (EI822/823 - CDG Paris) & tommorow (EI882/883 - Malaga) are still going ahead as the Thomas Cook A321 has a rental agreement which was paid for in advance until 00:00hrs local on Monday morning. So from Monday onwards all flights will be operating as normal. Also EI-DER (St. Mel) which is parked up on Stand 10 (Gate 6) will be non-op until Monday also, which is why the flights are being cancelled and or Delayed until 00:00hrs local Monday.

Pilots union (I can't recall what its called)
They're represented by IALPA (Irish AirLine Pilots Association) through Impact.

About 5% of cabin crew are represented by SIPTU. All cabin crew were initially represented by SIPTU until there was a break away from them to IMPACT in 1999. Don't know the reason for the split though.

I've asked this before but never got a clear answer, How can Ryanair be allowed to do that, surely that is anti-competitive ?

It requires someone to make a complaint.

And most airlines could have the same accusation made against them by some smaller competitor. In this case, what did EasyJet do to BMIBaby in Cork? But BMIBaby will have their own skeletons. And so on.

Indeed, BMIbaby were on their own operating Cork to Gatwick. Then Easyjet arrived in and operated at a loss, pushing BMIbaby out, and then Ryanair came in and eventually pushed Easyjet out, and now Aer Lingus have come in to competewith Ryanair, and time will tell if both can survive on the route.

It's all just the name of the game!
