No joy on the NWAN site yet.
As for FR, Salzburg and Friedrichshafen haven't operated since April last year and Valencia ended in November so their inclusion in the list of routes being dropped is somewhat bizzare IMHO. Budapest I would guess is more a casualty of the closure of the low cost terminal at BUD than any efforts from LS. Faro, Gdansk (which is served by Wizzair anyway), Paris and Szczecin have barely had time to get established having only started in November 08 and are perhaps more a symptom of FR misjudging their markets than any market collapse.
The loss of an aircraft off base is unfortunate but given the addition of a/c no.9 by EZY and the start of the KLM service LPL will hopefully manage to maintain existing pax numbers during these difficult times

Would Santiago not be due back this summer and Salzburg and Fried...(whatever) next winter?
Not good for LPL and I think what will make it worse for people such as Dwlpl and LPL lovers is that FR will probably look at more routes from MAN soon.
It is a stupid media release by FR saying that they are blaming it on the ADP where they have started new bases and expanded others since this rose in 2007 and it really is a delayed reaction. Obviously a excuse for LPL under performing.

What really infuriates me is the fact that ryanair never blame themselves for anything, it always seems to be someone elses fault!!! Air passeneger duty has been around for a while now & although the pound has slipped against the euro, people are just tightening-their-belts. It sort of says alot about the company in the fact that they've probably grown a little too big, too quickly at liverpool and the travelling public would rather fly from liverpool on a carrier that actually gives a damn about it's passengers, rather than making them feel like they're doing them a favour when they're on your aircraft. These routes are clearly not performing well according to who you chat to at liverpool airport and that is the only reason they're knocking off these routes. I feel sorry for the guys and girls they're going to lay-off because of it. It's not their fault ryanair made a mistake.

Point taken but, whatever way you look at it, not good news for LPL.
Apart from FR and EZY there are only a handful of other flights at the moment, the odd WIZZ, a Thomson every now and then and the IOM flights are at what seems like an all time low. I know that hopes are high for the AMS flights starting in a couple of months but they won't keep the airport going on their own. And still no London link.
It was always going to be a huge gamble basing expansion on the low cost airlines alone. I hope it pays off, but would not be surprised if the recently announced cuts turn out to be the thin end of a very long wedge. It is stating the obvious to say that the airport needs to do whatever it can to encourage more operators. I wonder what, if anything, there may be in the pipeline?

Scores of passengers were left grounded yesterday after security chaos at Liverpool Airport, the Echo reports. Passengers were unable to board a series of early-morning flights as queues snaked through the terminal building.
Frustrated travellers accused airport bosses of failing to prepare for the busy Valentine’s Day weekend and said the security checks were ‘woefully undermanned.’ Flights to Paris, Rome and Ireland were hit by the confusion, with 39 people missing flights to eight different destinations.
A spokesman for the airport said: ‘It seems the Valentine’s weekend, half term and a metal detector being 10 minutes late opening caused these delays and we are investigating what happened. The full complement of security staff did appear to be working.’

Probably because the Echo is no longer a reliable source of news....read behind the headlines and it's normally a non-story where the facts have been tucked away if included at all...

The queues for security are rediculous. Last night at 1900 the queue lengthwas up to the retail outlets and from my own experience, had i joined the queue it would have taken about 50 minutes to pass through security.
We opted to join the fast lane, for £3 each, which itself took 15 minutes

And you are wondering why the "ordinary queue" was too slow....! Money talks. Expect security queues to slow down at the same rate as passenger throughput declines just in case somebody decides to reduce costs by reducing staff levels.

i know what you are getting at, but on many occasions on sunday evenings, there has not been anyone at all waiting in the "fast lane" and that "ordinary queue" STILL backs up to the shops.

Mainly because before the Fast Lanes were introduced there was much more space at the bottom of the stairs in the area immediately before the security search area. The queue has always been there at peak times - you just never saw it previously!!
