Ignore him Xray - pretty much all the stuff he writes about Virgin is BS.

Must have his own agenda or something.

Yes its good fun speculating on peoples futures, isnt it? I admit the bearded one does no one any favours with the constant PR war but for gods sake, some people are like a baying mob at a cock fight just hoping another airline goes under so they can say 'I told you so', onanists...

The next person who makes an irresponsible and totally unfounded comment about VS's future plans will be gone!

It is STUPID to make such comments and anyone who does is on warning.

350's

aero.de are running the story.

The article is in German but here is a part quote translated by yahoo

quote
"LONDON - the airline Virgin Atlantic Airways stands with airbus in negotiation over up to 50 airplanes of a350 XWB series. The machines could be delivered starting from the year 2014 to the modernization of the long-distance fleet and replacement Boeing 747-400, communicated Virgin Atlantic after publication of an order of six A330-300. Virgin Atlantic orders over 13 Boeing 747-400"
End of quote

VS 330's

does anybody think that these aircraft may be used outside of LGW/LHR
i.e MAN or maybe new routes over the pond from newcastle or glasgow?

Over the pond only.

The aircraft don't have the legs for anywhere like PVG I don't think which is the rumours surrounding VS and MAN.

Maybe DXB!

Air China have A330-200s so I believe it's a range issue.

more redundancies?

So it's like this - the wife has just text me to say that there are to be another round of redundancies.

She's cabin crew (former IFBT who went through all that palavor already) and has said that they're looking for another 406 to go, on top of those crew (amongst other staff) who have already gone this year.

I've found the story on BBC site talking of wanting to shed another 600 odd staff - just wondering if anyone else has heard about this, or if there is any foundation to this bad news.

Can anyone else help?!
cheers

FF

Routes are going as well by the sounds of things - Chicago and one of the Hong Kong flights.

True about the 406 cabin crew.... Just spoke to a friend of mine (who's cabin crew with Virgin) who has received a letter about the redundancies... She also mentioned more flightdeck redundancies but she doesn't know how many...Bad times!

If Chicago goes that will be the second time. First was in 2001. Don't think you can start/stop on the same route too many times!

Have a seaky feeling that the previous ORD withdrawl was more Twin Towers related, than anything else.

cheers

From September Virgin Atlantic are reducing the baggage allowance in PE and Upper Class

PE will have the same allowance as Economy 2X 23Kg (from 2 X 32Kg) and UC goes from 3 X 32 Kg to 3 x 23Kg
Virgin Atlantic Airways - Popup

So now what is the difference between PE and Economy? just the seat pitch?

I wonder why...? What are the extra costs involved in providing extra luggage...especially for UC passengers? Dissapointing. very dissapointing.

46kg is still far more than most carriers for PE and certainly economy!

Maybe a bit of oportunism as I believe a maximum single bag weight of 23Kg is to be introduced in the near future at all UK airports on H&S grounds.

Luggage charges retrospective?

I’d already booked some Premium Economy transatlantic before the new low limits were announced and am not best pleased with the reduction.
I’ve just booked a couple more P.E. transatlantic flights and was being quoted the “old” luggage allowance at every point, leaving me a little puzzled as to what’s what. (But remember I’m getting old [I’ve even flown Palmair] so easily confused).
