The Flybe service is operated by the usual DHC8 400 seats 78 pax
Loads have been in the 32 s which is not good , then the times are bad as well just visitors really no good for the workers , leave that for Southampton
Couple of very long delays with Thomson today with a tech 737 800 in Paphos i believe , delaying the Dalaman and Corfu today
Not sure about the Manchester Flybe today , possibly tech as well in Man ?

A little bit of good news today from Palmair.
They have added extra flights to Tenerife and Palma on tuesdays during August, September and October. I assume this is because the day trips end this week.
Still no news on their winter routes??????

The Manchester flight returned to MAN tech so pax were moved over to the SOU flight and coached to BOH. The return was showing as delayed because pax went on a coach back to SOU. In theory both sectors were cancelled.
I was of the understanding the route was seeing loads in the late 40s on the Q400 which is not that bad really considering its still a fairly new route. I would not worry too much about it yet, if these loads are the same in 10 months time then you can be concerned.....

What I don't understand is why Flybe think anyone would prefer to pick up a connection in MAN and add hours to the overall trip time, rather than drive 30mins to SOU and get a direct flight ?
If they wanted to test the market they could just do GLA & EDI direct, it is a proven market from BOH. Same with the European Cities, I can't see how it could fail.
Why even bother with the MAN - onwards route
With Ryanair pulling out for 3 months, it's a no brainer, surely !

I must agree this Manchester flight is a strange bunny.
In the middle of the day very odd.
Changing in Manchester for extra routes .
The time taken to get to Soton and get a direct flight ( at better times ) for me makes the route a complete oddity .
For people west of the airport ( past Weymouth ) Exeter is also a viable option . Up to Sherborne train to Exeter. direct flight.

Hopefully BOH were sensible and imposed a 'scheduled flight fee' only rather than a pax volume fee otherwise Flybe will be running all over them with cheap diversions with no intention of offering other services from BOH to the detriment of their SOU & EXT bases. Plus Flybe know that their BOH-MAN acts as a deterrent to potentially Aer Arann, Air Southwest, Eastern and/or others starting alternative services.

I see from the Palmair thread the Astraeus a/c will now be available for the winter.

Kiss flights have put on a series of late departures 7 in total to Dalaman from 7th Sept using Saga Airlines , not sure what type though although i believe they have a mix of 737 400 / 800 and A300 in the fleet
Times are 0820 -- 0920
Lets hope they see a gap for some flight only s this winter to ALC / AGP / TFS which could sell very well for them and fill the void by missing link Ryanair

Thomas Cook have added Tenerife and Monastir for the month of November as new routes for them ( testing the water ? )

Looks like TCX A320 coming into BOH for these two days per week during the November period. I'm a bit surprised that they haven't done also a Thursday BOH-SSH for this period only too..

Bournemouth Airport faces a bleak time as airline Palmair considers adopting Ryanair's economic strategy of suspending all flights over the winter months
Just one month after Ryanair announced it would not be offering flights from Bournemouth Airport over the coming winter, airline Palmair, in a statement read on BBC Radio Solent on Wednesday August 25, 2010, says it is considering adopting the same economic strategy as Ryanair and not offering a winter flying schedule.
Winter Flying Suspension Due to Recession Says Palmair
Palmair’s reasons for considering cancelling flights during November, December and January are, centred on the economics of the current recession. Passenger numbers last winter were low and are expected to be even lower this winter because of the high price of the Euro and a weakened confidence in the airline industry since the volcanic ash situation earlier in the year.
If Palmair does cancel its winter flying, the move could be an economic blow for Bournemouth International Airport, coming as it does just two months after the grand opening of its £45 million new departures terminal. However, when asked about his views on the Palmair considerations, in an interview broadcast on BBC Radio Solent on August 25, 2010, Bournemouth Airport’s commercial director, Stephen Turner, adopted a bullish attitude.
Bournemouth Seeking Other Operators for Lapland and Ski Flights
He said he was not worried about how airport coping economically during the winter months because Ryanair had suspended flights for November and December only and are expected back in January (although Ryanair’s website says January flights are suspended too). Turner also said that they are speaking to other operators with a view to laying on Lapland flights in the run up to Christmas as well as winter flights to ski destinations.

More bad news for BOH. Apart from the terminal opening there has been no really good news for a long long time.
Still think a regional airline would do really well ( ie Flybe) but will never expand here due to SOU.

Silver lining?
BOH had a good July with 0.5% GROWTH, yes GROWTH in passengers.
89,000 pax carried in July.
Manchester loads - no improvement. Still around 41% load factor. Not good.
Thomson flight all showed very healthy load factors in the low to mid 90%'s.
Ryanair routes to DUB, MJV, MLA showing good performance
TFS and PMI showing big volumes and strong growth on last year.
Surprised by the outcome of Nov-Jan flying considering there does seem to be strong last minute demand from BOH

According to local news outlets, they are actively seeking further ski routes for the winter, plus flights to Lapalnd (!), and still think they can a replacement winter sun operator!!
