I don't think people on hear have a dislike of Ryanair per se just MOL, who whenever I see on TV, he's shabbily dressed and I just think that he should be selling tarmac for my "droive".
Cue backlash!

Scheduled air services operated and lost since 1988
Not an exhastive list - but gives an idea of the main routes come and gone
Aurigny/Blue Islands - Alderney
Jersey European/Aurigny/Blue Islands - Jersey, Guernsey
Euro Direct Airlines - Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Dublin, Manchester, Exeter, Humberside, Leeds Bradford
Euroscot Express/Gill Airways - Glasgow, Edinburgh
Air Berlin - Paderborn
Jet2 - Belfast
easyJet - Grenoble, Krakow
Wizzair - Krakow, Katowice, Gdansk
Ryanair - Frankfurt Hahn, Glasgow Prestwick,Paris Beauvais, Shannon, Madrid, Nantes
Thomsonfly - Alicante, Amsterdam, Salzburg, Paris, Amsterdam, Pisa, Prague
Flyglobespan - Edinburgh (on sale, but never operated)
Palmair - Glasgow (announced, but never operated)
Buzz - Amsterdam, Bergerac, Belfast, Glasgow Prestwick, Malaga, Paris, Murcia (on sale, but never operated)
Had these destinations all been established and maintained to this day (and assuming one airline per route for example so not Buzz, Tfly and Euro Direct on Amsterdam, just one) BOH would be around 1.4m pax up on current totals - so 2009/10 would be seeing 2.3m pax.

Amsterdam has never stuck but thats not because the route is not viable, its because the type of operator and aircraft type are not right.
Amsterdam only survives from other regional airports because of the significant chunk of connecting traffic.
KLM/VLM would be ideal on 2 or 3 times daily BOH-AMS with a F70 (but i would have thought that SOU would gain that airline before BOH does!)

At the moment though the Gerona , Edinburgh and Tenerife flights all clash with each other for departures on a Monday and Friday as do the Las Palmas and Lanzarote flight s so i guess there will be some major moving of schedules soon , hopefully Bournemouth will gain a few more Gerona flights rather than the 2 services this winter as oppose to the daily schedule last winter
May be a Gerona based aircraft to operate the flights

Shame it's being used as a parking Lot, it has so much potential as an Airport !
Is ther no positive news about new operators, surely they will need more traffic to pay for the Development !?????

There are not many things that Amsterdam offers that cannot be found in various areas of B'mouth on a Saturday night .

Questions for the experts
Couple of questions for those in the know:
1) When is construction on the arrivals hall taking place?
2) A/c Stands on eastern apron - capable of handling 757?
3) A/c Stand on western apron (contact stands) - what is max a/c size, 757?
4) Any more a/c coming to BOH for parking/storage?
5) 10ft high security fence - is this being erected all around the airport... Nothing along parley lane yet

1) After Departures is finished as Arrivals do not make any money. Which makes sense as passengers are only interested in getting home.
4) Yes, for the Airshow! Red Arrows come almost every week to Bournemouth. They should start charging Ryanair aircraft for storage that are stood still for more than 25 minutes!

For those that are interested quite a good areal photo of Bournemouth Airports new stands with 5 aircraft on them ( 3 BA aircraft on the western apron a Titan 737 on the new part )
The new apron looks plenty large enough to take 757 s as per normal this winter the usual 767 300 and A330 should be regular visitors
Picture available to view is Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch news, sports and jobs. Dorset and Hampshire what's on and leisure , click on photos , click to order then type in airport as keyword

Over 88,000 pax in July 2009
Bournemouth had a disappointing fall in pax to over 88,000 in July 09, a fall of 19.5% on previous year. This compares badly with Southampton which recorded only a 1% fall in monthly figures.
EXT overtook BOH handling 89,000 pax in Jul.
Most of BOH reductions caused by Ryanair capacity falls at DUB, PIK, NTE and some others. Katowice and Wroclaw reductions by Wizz and Ryanair also assisted the knock down.
Some routes saw growth and strength including Murcia, Marseille, Alicante, Faro etc.

2010 at BOH
Will Ryanair base a 2nd a/c? if so where will they fly?
Will easyJet ever do more than just GVA? If so where?
Will Air Southwest ever come to the realization of the potential at BOH? If so what would their route network look like?
And why oh why arn't the channel islands served? How can Durham, Doncaster, Exeter, Oxford, Cambridge, Norwich, Southend, Kent, Plymouth, Newquay all have Channel Island connections but BOH doesn't!!!!!!!!!! I thought BOH had a more elderly wealthy and retired population! The very ones who travel to and fro to the island... Does Flybe really have that much of a grip of the market? What about the 400,000 people living closer to BOH than Southampton?
Jersey European carried 19,000 pax to JER annually (8 flights per week F27) and 14,000 pax annually (6 flights per week F27) to GCI during the early 90's. BACK THEN! Thats a perfect SF-340 or J41 or ERJ-135, D-328 or Dash 8-200 volume market. Potential airlines? Aurigny tried with SH-360's, Blue Islands tried with Trislanders and J31's. Air Southwest could do well to try a BOH-JER-GCI link. But why doesn't it stick? What are the airlines doing wrong?
