Re German Flights
I am flying to Germany tomorrow - goto go to London City from Bournemouth What a drag. Also goto go to Stansted for Berlin airshow and Luton for Magdeburg (Germany) airshow both the Ryanair.

Re Terminal
The question should be ...When are they restarting to build the terminal as things had stopped since Christmas. I had heard that the end of next week should resume work.

RE (My friend works in a Thomas Cook shop on the south coast and she confimred to me that Thomas Cook Group are pulling there entire BOH flying programme for Summer 2008, not sure why yet, my friend is still trying to find out for me)
Hmm.. strange that.. seeing as I heard a local radio advert on at least four occasions today (22/01/08) for Thomson summer holidays and flights from BOH
I would suggest that if the 'entire BOH' programme is being pulled, that they would not be actively advertising it and that their website would not show/allow booking of said BOH flights!

My understanding is the construction of the new terminal has been put on hold till the legalities with the new forest nimbys is sorted. Not sure when that is though.

response and action to feedback regarding Glasgow times

we have addressed the problem of the day return to Glasgow Prestwick from Bournemouth.

Timings are now altered and are using a BOH based plane for both rotations... timings differ slightly at the weekend but now allow for a full day in either Bournemouth or Glasgow.

new evening time dep BOH at 20.40, back in BOH by 23:40.

Good news about the PIK flight times.

However, the timetables show it departing PIK at 20:40 arriving back there at 23:40 which would indicate a PIK based aircraft is still being used. Is this correct or going to be changed?

The Zoom flights mentioned earlier on were in fact just charter flights to New York in November in addition to the Bath Travel flights which have been operated for over 8 years now . However the company due to operate the Zoom flight to JFK has since stopped operating ( Travelscope )

Bath Travel have 10 flights over the winter period 2008/9 to Barbados and Dominican Republic using Thomsonfly and Monarch, there best ever year ! and in addition Thomson Holidays have 2 flights also to the Dominican Republic next winter which is fantastic for an airport of Bournemouth s size .

Thomas Cook holidays have indeed cancelled there entire programme this summer as already mentioned but Thomsonfly have a full programme using 1 based aircraft as do Ryanair with the prospect now of a 2nd based aircraft arriving later in the summer

Good to see that Goldtrail are operating a full programme to Dalaman this year and hopefully the prospect of seeing the A300 Airbus on the route again would be good

Haven t heard if EasyJet are continuing the Krakow route this summer yet might just be a winter destination ?

apologies, the evening rotation is performed by PIK based a/c for the summer 2008 programme... but may change in future

why on earth would easyJet only operate Krakow during the winter? It's not supposed to be a winter route! If they don't even give it a chance over the summer then they are stupid and leave the market for us...and Wizz air

I think easyJet are right at this moment deliberating whether to continue the Krakow route into the summer in light of the Ryanair expansion which means that this service is now competing with Wizz and Ryanair to Katowice and Wroclaw respectively (the Polish areknown for traveling great distances to obtain cheap flights and this will probably result in dilution of the market with too many operators.)

I am pretty certain that easyJet after it's profound success with the Geneva route (now operating 10 times per week) and a whole host of lucrative routes waiting to be served still from BOH, that they will want to keep the airport on their route map.

Whether this means a base is forthcoming THIS year I am not sure. But some routes such as Madeira, Nice, Prague, Berlin, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Paris, Amsterdam, Innsbruck are a perfect fit for the airline... as well as Geneva, Grenoble and Krakow. There must have been some sort of deal with Manchester airports group to assist BOH when they announced their base there.

Rumour: EZY Base May 1st

Apperently the rumour around the airport is that Easyjet are to announce a base at the airport starting in May... however, with this a 4 aircraft based was rumoured - which to me seems highly unlikely.

Looks like they are erecting some structure in front of BACSO’s old hangar. Could this be a tail cover to accommodate the 747SP as mentioned in the past.?

I've had it passed to me from someone in the airport that easyjet will not be at the airport for the summer at all, returning with the normal routes in winter. Doesnt appear to be any plans for a base at the moment.

Good, more room for us then.

Rumour here about next batch of routes from Sep 2008 for the 2nd aircraft:

Tenerife 1---5-- (late PM)
Oporto ---4--- (late PM)
Naples -2-4-6 (lunch)
Stockholm 1-3-5-7 (lunch)
Dublin extra daily service (am)
Malta -2---6- (late PM)
Marrakesh --3---7 (late PM)

Plus other development from Europe/UK bases into Bournemouth. This could be Belfast, Edinburgh, Rome & Valencia

Naples -2-4-6 (lunch)
Naples isn't on the Ryanair network. Also, Naples is very much a summer destination, and is very unlikely to be launched in September. Therefore I'd say there zero chance of Naples being a destination from Bournemouth. If Bournmouth do get a second aircraft in September, the chances are it may operate flights to Dublin, Glasgow (PM) etc. that are currently opertated by aircraft from other bases as well as a scattering of new routes.

I also have difficulty believing the proposed routes for the 2nd aircraft. It's very unlike Ryanair to commit a aircraft to exclusively long distance routes.
Oporto once weekly on a Thursday sounds very improbable.

I hope easyJet recognise the opportunities that still remain at BOH - so many more routes out there that are obviously better than the obscure and rather pointless routes announced by Ryanair.

Additional routes not announced by 'Ryanair'.... just a rumour of possible maybe's from 'ryanair1'. Time will tell. Keep them coming!

I thought the airport originaly announced the EZY to Krakow was 'year round'? All but the most recent press releases have disappeared from the BOH web site - how convenient!

......perhaps both EZY and TOM are running scared of Ryanair

BOHEuropean - I can endorse your rumour. I have also heard from a good source that easyJet are considering the base launch to be brought forward after Ryanair's surprise basing of only one aircraft. easyJet see this is a good opportunity to go in bigger. The airport and easyJet are working as we speak because capacity of the airport is not ideal for what easyJet want to do, and the airport can't fix it quickly enough. There may be a desire to expediate the launch of the base but the route network may be limited due airport constraints. Work on the airport arrivals hall should help... but this is postponed at the moment due New Forest issues. Krakow has performed well, Geneva exceptionally well, and Grenoble less successful. This has not put them off on other route development. Lets watch this space. But it will be a welcome boost to the airport.
