I Agree, Far too many posters on here slating the place before it's finished !

Give them a chance, BOH will be judged on results in the next 2 years and shouldn't be pre judged now !

It looks very similar to many regional airports around Europe, functional but not fancy, it's never going to be Heathrow is it !

Lucky they managed to sqeeze it in quickly before the meltdown, in this financial climate it's a miracle for the area and all that use it !

Good Luck to them

You never know, it might become London-Bournemouth sometime soon? Aha!

Advertising new flybe connections

The flybe connections from Bournemouth to Edinburgh and Glasgow via Manchester have not been advertised or promoted yet. Might be a good idea to do this to help make the Manchester route a success from the get go.

Heard the new bmibaby Jersey services have strong forward bookings. Will be interesting to see 1st flight Monday.

The future's bright...

New eco-friendly terminal, even more eco-friendlier arrivals starting soon, new state of the art primary and secondary radars on one new (radar) tower, lots of new routes and new aircraft, give the old tower a lick of paint and iron out the last remaining bumps in the taxiways and hey new it's a new Bournemouth Airport from 3 years ago.

and Southampton ageing shed is putting in some skylights...nice!

easyJet

I heard that easyJet (and not easyJet switzerland) are operating the winter Geneva service this season. With the Geneva service doing very well this season (7/8 weekly flights) they must be aware of Bournemouth's potential in terms of other new destinations.

They have tried Krakow and Grenoble in the past. Fleetingly. But let's face it, there are thicker routes out there for the picking. Why trial Krakow?! They should be focusing on trying other more likely routes. easyJet routes to Nice, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Madeira, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast & Newcastle would be very strong contenders and should be looked at.

747-400s

The two 747-400s currently parked were both planned for a new start up airline Eagle Aviation Europe but it was recently declared "bust" by the French courts before it got off the ground.Their sister a/c 757 F-GTI? recently left Lasham for storage in the Californian desert and it is expected these 747s will follow shortly. In the meantime European engineers appear to be regularly engine running etc. Hope this helps.

Many thanks Yorky66 - The people I was with asked me and I did say I was not sure but that they might be ex Gulf Air (Golden Falcon etc) even though I don't think they had 747s. I don't know if there is an icon on here for a sheepish grin - probably the best lesson to learn is to keep my gob shut unless I know for sure.

Thanks Again
Kemac

747-400s

KeMac
The all white one arrived as 9V-SPG and was quickly re-regd N265MS, whilst the one with eagles on tail, engines and wingtips arrived as F- GTIR.
You were probably confused by the fact that they are parked exactly where 2 ex Gulf 767s were stored recently ...and don't worry about making mistakes...when I was a nipper my dad used to say to me " the only person who never makes mistakes is the bloke who never makes anything "....how right..I'm being corrected all the bl**dy time !!!

bmibaby load factors

That was a booked load? How many actually turned up?

If those numbers are accurate, they are embarrassingly low load factors - APPALLING!!

Give it a chance. First service on a Monday in March.

Apparently forward bookings have been good enough to increase frequency to thrice weekly next winter - although that does seem a really strange decision. Would many people want to fly betwen BOH and JER in the middle of winter?

BOH-JER loads

I can confirm 100% that the inaugural flight loads were 6 & 23 (JER-BOH-JER), admittedly very low...but, on the up-side, and the reason why your fare pricing for this weekend is quite high is firstly, it's Easter, and secondly the loads are 74 & 76 (JER-BOH-JER)! Good times

Christchurch council has passed the new arrivals plans and the airport hopes to have it open for summer 2011. So by summer next year we will hopefully have a complete airport.

Hope the loads pick up on the Jersey route. Would be a shame to loose it.

Anything has got to be better than the current portacabins.

More importantly, are the new flights doing well? Can anyone in the know let us know what the loads look like on the new bmibaby flights and the new Ryanair flights?

Its probably a little early to get any results back yet on the new routes another month and they should be published

Thomson upgrade there flights from end of April with a new based 737 800 to a selection of new routes so will be interesting to see how they perform

I think its poor old Palmair being left out in the cold at the moment not sure which direction to go
