Yes it can fill 2 planes in the same day on the same route. Depends if the travel agents have done their bit correct. also its charter flights and not schedule routes.

It'll mean price competition to fill the excess seats. On the basis that the TC flight is slightly later, running a W pattern so selling a shorter holiday and a larger aircraft, I would have thought they will be taking the pain.

easyJet
I usually use the BOH-GVA service a couple of times each winter but i have never seen the flight so sparse as my return today - only about 40 passengers, outbound Thurs last week wasn't that much better.
See what the CAA stats show when they are published but on the surface it doesn't look encouraging for this x8 per week service.
Also being operated on a W pattern by a Stansted based a/c and crew this season rather than by a EJ Switzerland a/c.

Nothing to get to excited about but Atlantic Holidays are operating a couple of flights this summer to Funchal using Monarch A320
Along with a programme operated by New Market holidays to various destinations from Bournemouth using Small Planet Boeing 737 300 this brings about 19 flights now ad hoc this summer , Newmarket holidays has the largest programme from Bournemouth of regional airports it uses
All helps a bit i guess !
Shame Monarch cant put into place a small programme to compensate for the loss of Palmair holidays

I used the Easyjet Geneva service only two weeks ago and the plane was full both ways. This route seems to still be popular although made me smile that as we boarded outbound, the terminal shops were closing as I guess the next flight out was later that day!!

The article above mentions 29 FR destinations from BOH! The drop-down list on the Ryanair website lists 12.
So is there an enormous announcement to be made, or are Bath Travel running scared?

I followed Jamie2k9's link, but not sure Ryanair are totally responsible, there was a huge amount of Palmair cash spent when the volcanic ash cloud debarcle happened., having said that it was clear what Ryanairs intentions were when they copied Thomson and Palmairs Routes, good job Thomson were bigger and stronger or there would have been no flights this winter !
Stephen Bath was also on South Today (BBC) but no mention of Ryanair, so was that interview edited ? either way journalism at its best, two different stories from the same source.
Many people I know are in the same position as Myself, wanting to fly to and from BOH but the routes have been pulled, so we are having to look elsewhere ! Chicken & Egg again.

As predicted a terrible passenger figure of 12 , 273 for December !!
Looking at what was on offer mostly Thomson flights went out about 85 % load factor bearing in mind a few flights diverted out as well
Sharm continues to perform well and goes twice a week next winter
Geneva with Easy Jet , went out about 73 % ( 110 passengers ) but again many flights were cancelled due weather so difficult to gage at moment

CAA stats
The UK airport stats for Dec 2010 make for some quite shocking reading, not just for BOH.
SOU traffic plunged almost 22% in December, seeing massive losses on UK domestic routes, in the case of SOU-GLA by 50%!
If anything like GLA or EDI had been operating from BOH it would have been unviable, so perhaps it was the right decision for FR to go seasonal for this winter in particular.
EXT passengers plunged but with no real route withdrawals, so my guess is that Flybe are really feeling it there with very low loads.
Just about every airport in the UK has reported bigger falls in passenger numbers than the previous December. No sign of any kind of recovery yet in the UK domestic air travel market.

Nakata77, bare in mind the very poor weather during the winter. Even when Southampton was operational, Edinburgh and Glasgow were sometimes not. Thus, these statistics are not the best to predict a long term fall in pax numbers.

CAA Stats
I think it is really difficult to evaluate figures for December at any UK airport following the terrible weather.
Even airports that manged to stay open more than others still suffered due to destination airports being closed!
It will be a case a writing off December and see what January brings as so far the weather has been a bit kinder to airports of the uk

I think perhaps this should be in Spotters Corner rather than Airlines, Airports and Routes?

BOH-MAN
I seem to remember that Flybe attempted to resurrect the above route last summer (2010) - and just about managed it, but at what cost - and pulled the plug anyway, many were surprised it lasted that long .
As was mentioned by others, the original routing was 'I believe' Dan-Air (748 - how I loved those Dart - engined aircraft [sad but true]). This was then taken up by Metropolitan Airways using a vomit comet (SD3-30 - well 2), one routing was BOH-CWL-MAN-NCL-GLA, looping through MAN - started badly but improved with 80-90% load factors daily on both this and the cross-country through BRS and LBA, prior to its eventual failure. There were problems but overall the return and response of the pax was positive.
However if I recall correctly, there was talk that the maintenance company may have been responsible for much of Metropolitan's hardship and eventual demise - suffice to say the maintenance company collapsed shortly afterwards, no surprises there eh, too greedy - what goes around comes around (Glos Air) ......... C'est la vie !!!
Another disaster or disappointment (however you wish to interpret it) was the demise of the fledgling BOH-CDG metro-liner III carrier (sorry can't think of its name) employing mini hostesses which was cute - I believe this may have been bad management/backing but there you go, I recall some of the senior management team and initial AOC planning (pretty sound at the outset) - but sadly wasn't to be.
BOH has a lot of potential, pity the marketing has come in so late - 2011 will be one to watch, lets hope the outcome isn't too negative never mind eh - as it relates to BOH Ops, a real pity, especially with all the investment - would love to see 'Eastern Airlines (UK)', Thomas Cook and Monarch at BOH. That would be interesting.....
Anyway roll on Feb 2nd when Ryanair should be coming back (but for how long). The new arrivals terminal is looking sleek too, from what one can see, NOT before time.
