Agree with the above re. Air Asia X's fares not being attractive enough Long-Haul.

The cheapest I've ever seen Air Asia X on LON-KUL return is in the region of £450-500. Last week I managed to get Emirates LHR-BKK via DXB for £503 return, 3 of those flights on brand new A380's with top class entertainment. Not to mention that you get more than enough free luggage allowance, unlimited free food/drinks onboard, and all of the other perks such as seating requests and online check-in.

Short haul is another matter of course - I booked SDK-BKI (Borneo domestic flight) for £16 including pre-paid baggage and seat selection, which is a bargain!

Totally agree with 'All the 9s' - I looked at All Asia fares, but when all the extras were taken into account, it all seemed a lot less hassle, plus a better on-board experience, not to mention only a little less cost, to fly with a ME carrier.
Perhaps All Asia didn't take into account the fact that pax would look beyond the 'lead-in' fare.

Pegasus increases SAW to double daily next summer. Izmir will stay at 4 weekly.

FR will launch PFO-STN.

Germanwings has today announced trice daily LHR-CGN, code-sharing with Lufthansa. Although it is at first glance just a replacement of BD on the route, will it have any impact on STN-CGN?

Devil phoenix rising???

With the servisair ramp staff all going to menzies(tupe) is the way clear now for servisair to bring in smart handling(after an appropriate lapse of time)

Hypothesis: servisair re-invent with smart handling and take back all the work they 'lost' plus easyjet......and maybe ryanair...

Lets see what the picture looks like 12 months from now.

4U flights to CGN, STR and HAJ bookable until the end of the summer. No sign they'll give up STN for LHR.

Stansted sale: BAA loses appeal against ruling

Spanish-owned BAA argued that it was not anti-competitive for it to own Stansted and Heathrow

Airport operator BAA has lost its appeal against a ruling that it must sell Stansted airport.

Just chuckled at the BBC Mews coverage of the Stansted news. It showed checkin desks of the long ago defunct AirUK. Surely the beeb have a more up to date video bank?

Hey ho. More Ferrovial money poured down the drain on lawyers' fees. Maybe they'll be told to flog off T5 at Heathrow next

Stansted is very dead compared to what it used to be. I've noticed in the last couple of years it's much quieter, a few weeks ago I was on a flight in early evening and there was hardly anyone there and pretty little flights. Really does need new owners to re-invigorate it as it's a shadow of it's former self. I used to travel through there quite often in 2006 or so and the difference is amazing, it seems to have declined dramatically in the last 12-18 months especially.

Hope you noticed too the Car Park Ryanair have turned Stansted into this Winter, they have hugely reduced their STN schedule as they grounded 80 aircraft since last October, the airport picks up and is seriously busy come late March.

Yes, it's actually a pleasure to use STN this time of year, with so few flights! Just flew back from FMM and was through Border Control in seconds instead of the usual long wait. Plane was only a third full as well!
