I think it's based in Aberdeen. On Friday it flew ten legs, ABZ-LSI-ABZ-LSI-GLA-LSI-EDI-LSI-ABZ-LSI-ABZ.

is it something in the water over in Humberside or does Eastern have a death wish. Their Belfast to Island fare for most of October is £208 SINGLE! operated by AIS airlines whoever they are

AIS is a Dutch flying school that runs an airline on the side to counter the bank loan issues for new pilots. They sell the students a Jetstream rating and then give them hours on type and then they get shown the door.

So its Jetstream 32 you will be flying on.

Quite comical - so it looks like it's the Newcastle/Aberdeen and NCL/BHD/IOM pax who are getting stuffed with the AIS J32 (and high fares!) instead of the Durham TV/Aberdeen pax who might have an alternative on the horizon. How blatant is that!

Still, I suppose they had to save some money somewhere as I bet that Darwin Saab 2000 isn't cheap.

Having the Embraer gives them a unique selling point over Loganair as many people will see a jet aircraft as better than a prop. Whether it's better operationally for the Shetlands is another matter that I'm not qualified to speculate on.

The AIS Jetstream 31 is moving up the road from MME to NCL based next weekend by looks of things and will start to operate the following flights from Monday 11th and remain on lease until Friday, October 29th

EZE4030 = NCL 06:50 - ABZ 07:45
EZE4031 = ABZ 08:15 - NCL 09:05
EZE650 = NCL 09:45 - BHD 10:50 / BHD 11:20 - IOM 11:55
EZE651 = IOM 12:40 - BHD 13:15 / BHD 13:45 - NCL 14:50
EZE4094 = NCL 18:15 - ABZ 19:15
EZE4039 = ABZ 19:40 - NCL 20:35

Meanwhile the Darwin Airlines Saab 2000 will remain on lease also based at NCL until September 29th operating as follows:

EZE4641 = NCL 06:45 - CWL 08:00
EZE4032 = CWL 08:25 - NCL 09:50 / NCL 10:15 - ABZ 11:20
EZE4095 = NCL 16:15 - NCL 17:10 / NCL 17:35 - CWL 19:00
EZE4648 = CWL 19:25 - NCL 20:40

Sounds like then it would be better off operating on their NCL routes and the Saab operating to the islands.

Of course it would be better, and a common sense move, but anyone at Humberside that possesses common sense and useful operational knowledge and points out such daft ideas gets overruled. It's the Muppets that run the show!

What RAFAT said.

And as TangoAlphad said, what spunk lolly decided that an EMB is a good idea for LSI. Actually, I'm pretty sure I know who that is at HUY. Winter ops in LSI is made for the SB20, with a handy 40 knot xwind limit for one thing.
