Right.I will comment even with my bad JD hangover.
I was at Eastern for 10 years.
One of the fleet managers who went to Jet2 was a wonderful guy. There was also and ex red arrows guy who was a top bloke. But I hear eastern was so bad he went back to the RAF.
The vast majority of the past RAF people in Eastern (flight crew not engineers) have been totally talentless.

Eastern Airways in NOC last night.
Any chance of return of the seasonal Leeds/Bradford route to return as numbers were positives with Ryanair but plane just a little big.

Not surprised
As anyone with any commercial acumen will tell you;
Lose your staff due to poor treatment and conditions and you will lose in the long term.
Treat your passengers so badly they don't come back and you will lose in the short and long term
Price charter work up with no profit in them and you need professional psychiatric help.
All of the above Eastern could not and would not address due to incompetency and ignorance respectively.
Now they've made a Ł3.3m loss. Not surprising.

In addition to the above GLA routes, as per Flybe's stock exchange filing, the four aircraft jointly operated with BE will also serve:
Aberdeen-Sumburgh
Edinburgh-Sumburgh
Aberdeen-Kirkwall
I wonder if Loganair has seen this coming...

This is very clearly a spoiler move from Flybe, something they've done before and very much a statement of intent not to work with Loganair. Bye bye all those connections that Flybe/Loganair made possible.

Some routes will have to be given up by Eastern to fulfill this alliance because they just don't have sufficient crew to cater for the extra work. Or perhaps the poor souls that remain will be flogged even more!
So will a route like LBA-SOU, which has yo-yo'd between Flybe and Eastern in recent years, now be flown by Eastern in Flybe colours under a franchise?
Ironic really when you think how Flybe acted to muscle Eastern off routes like this (SOU-BRU was another one, historically) and then left them to it (or left it unserved) when they realised it didn't work for them.

The are only 4x Eastern Airways aircraft to be rebranded into Flybe colours. These will be used to operate the new routes Scottish announced yesterday.
Current Eastern Airways routes eg Leeds - Aberdeen and Leeds - Southampton will continue to be flown using Eastern Airways branded aircraft, use "Eastflight" callsign and "EZE" flight code. The "BE" code will be applied to ticketing and Flybe brand used for marketing routes.
I suppose overtime all Eastern's aircraft could start to be rebranded into Flybe colours.

This seems to be a very strange agreement. It's a franchise, but Eastern keep operating their aircraft in their own colours? That's certainly what the press release states, but I thought a key part of a franchise agreement was that you adopted the franchisor's brand....
The reason why I asked my previous question is because the press release states the following...
It's either misleading/badly worded, or means that Eastern will fly all it's scheduled routes as a Flybe franchise?
Under the terms of the five-year agreement, Eastern will operate its flights under the Flybe brand.
In addition, four Eastern aircraft will serve existing Flybe routes to Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester, which the airline claims will “significantly improve” connectivity for Scotland.

Flybe Group plc ("Flybe") announces that it has signed Heads of Terms with Eastern Airways (UK) Limited ("Eastern") to establish a new alliance:
1. a five-year franchise agreement in which Eastern will operate its scheduled route network under the Flybe brand; and
2. a joint revenue and risk sharing agreement, covering four Eastern aircraft, to fly existing Flybe branded routes from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester. The four aircraft will be operated under the Flybe franchise and significantly improve connectivity for Scotland.

Eastern's existing network will be operated at Eastern's risk with all revenue (or losses...) going into Eastern's pockets. The Scottish routes will be risk- and revenue shared. I guess the usual franchise fees will not apply to this operation.
So RAF Valley will see Flybe-branded services then - who would have thought... With Stobart, Eastern and Blue Islands, Flybe have gobbled up most of the UK's regional airlines at the lower end of the pecking order. Not much else left now.

Desperate measures from EA by the sound of it. The recent redundancies, closure of servicing at Aberdeen and various other money saving schemes haven't worked. Mr Bristow can't be happy with the latest financial report. I'd get rid if I were you Mr B.
