Flights from Oxford to Palma | Oxford Airport Travel

Love the line:

It has 50 seats, but for your comfort we will ensure that the plane will never be completely full
and also
You have time on the flight to rest and relax
- almost 3 hours

Oxford - Palma And Return

Plus if the wind is a bit strong we might drop into a couple of airports in mainland Spain or France to pick up a bit of fuel - so relax and enjoy the 5 hr flight home - I don't think so!

Mr Man: what I said was not unfounded gossip, as you will find out if you bother to click on the link.

If you do believe that there are
morons on here with nothing better to do than spread their negative, self opinionated, unfounded gossip!
, might I humbly suggest that you remove yourself from this forum forthwith (as you quite obviously tower above all of us in every respect) and go elsewhere... perhaps here

compton3bravo may well be exaggerating, but I should doubt very strongly that if there is a hefty wind the Saab will make it back to Oxford without refueling...

So what is the true reason that it will be ensured that the aircraft is never completely full?

Might it just have something to do with S2000 aircraft performance, that PMI is a fair old trek for a S2000, and a less than ideal Oxford runway and the operator have informed the tour operator of a payload restriction which might be compounded further by weather conditions such as a water contaminated Oxford runway, still air conditions, high outside air tempertures and/or unfavourable en-route winds?

PF, I quite agree with you. So yes Mr Man, (whilst I'm not generally a gambler, I don't really think this is one) I would rather like to bet.

Quite interesting that they say:
"FLY DIRECT FROM OXFORD AIRPORT TO PALMA, MALLORCA – and what’s more do it in style and comfort...and at a price that will often work out cheaper than flying with the ‘no-frills’ airlines or other charter flights."

So I've tried to see what Monarch have to offer for a week to PMI from LTN out 06Aug for a week. The highest price I can get with bags/meals/extra legroom seats/lounge/a bottle of champagne out and back is £380.96...yet their lowest guide price for August departures is £550.....

Gonna have to do better than that!

Put it this way ...

I've known of a S2000 operation, with no runway restriction, on a 1hr 50 min, circa 1hr 40min flight time, sector offloading baggage to make the flight!

I don't speak 'down' of the S2000, it is the most advanced turbo-prop, a wonderful piece of kit, like sh1t off a shovel, the problem is it's attempting to operate from a flying club rather than from an airport!

Not going to mud sling

The saab can do that distance quite easily. And thats without long range cruise.

It can put 50 on board, standard bags and enough fuel for the trip.

It just depends on OXF 01/19 perf on the day. With 10kt H/W its pretty much MTOW. Landing wise, 22000KG Dry/Wet and clam.

Good aircraft for it.

And I would like to do it. Stay in Woodstock and have the best G & T at the Kings Arms.

Well clearly it isn't if it takes 2h45m to ply the route each way Should really take around 2 hours and be affordable if they expect anyone to latch onto the service. And the sentence about not filling seats for people's comfort is plainly telling...

A 10kt (straight down the runway) headwind for pretty much MTOW ..... whatever "pretty much" might mean?

The average wind for Oxford during July is south westerly at 7.8kt!

Some S2000 performance data here: Saab Aircraft Leasing

Oxford runway data here: London Oxford (Kidlington) Airport EGTK/OXF - General Airport Information/Airfield Data for Pilots - Flight Planning

What's your point? Last time I checked Oxford didnt have an elevation of five thousand feet. 1220m todr for easa at 23000kgs. Scatsta is 100m shorter than Oxford no problems there and that has lots of slope and other obstacle considerations. Sb20 has plenty of excess performance, and range. Im not sure what your problem is pp..
2.40 mins of fuel plus reserves and alternate is just under 3 tons of fuel. So still zero fuel weight limited, on a standard dry day, with a 5 kt headwind.
Any passenger restrictions imposed are to give a guaranteed saleable operations taking to account worst case scenarios wet low qnh hot days with still wind, and to allow for extra fuel in the case of multiple alternates required. Eastern are experienced charter operators and regularly operate to dubrovnic from Norwich on another charter non stop which is further and does have payload and fuel considerations, they are like to be taking a similar view with this charter. It's perfectly sensible to be conservative.
Either way lets return back to the subject whether people like it or not, the charter is advertised on the oxford airport website. Let's see what happens I'm sure itll be successful.
I'll get the first round of g and ts jtk.

Paul,

As you indicate the proof shall be in the pudding, the 'laugh' here is that the tour operator has stated 'we' shall never fill the aircraft for passengers comfort reasons when we, in the know, know that to be downright bullsh1t!

The true reason that it will be ensured the aircrat is never full is because of a payload restriction based on Oxford's runway TODA qand/or the route endurance.

Now if you want to call me a liar then please feel free and go right ahead ...

Phileas

Is it really that important?

In the entire scheme of life, is this something you need to worry about.

The average wind for Oxford during July is south westerly at 7.8kt!
The above statement proves my point. Just stop that type of stuff . Its sad.

'Pretty much' means; had a look at performance figures because i have flown in there in the saab but not going to work it out to 1kg for the purposes of pprune because i have a life.

No offence.

p.s That weblink to Saab AL. We dont use that. We have a book filled with numbers. Really, I've seen it.

It wont be filled for "comfort reasons" IE: it is more comfortable to do a 2h45m flight without having to change planesand then endure a tech stop...so its not a lie as such....

Anything new on the fleet or routes?
Heard the ASW DHC8's are doing a lot of the Jetstreams work, is this a long term change? Seems a very fluid fleet at the moment, four types, but numbers seem to change month to month, are all four staying or are they going to focus on one or two?

they are supposed to be doing some of the work, but are always tech, so the jetstreams have to cover, and sometimes the standby cover on the SAAB
