Eastern tried and discarded the 145, its too expensive to run. Flybe came to the same conclusion. Turboprop is less sexy but offers similar performance on a 1 hr sector and is far less thirsty.

I believe Bmi regional are a profitable part of bmi, and with a bit of tidying up should be ok. Lufthansa run other regional feeder airlines, I would suspect they have a plan for them.

Neither flybe or eastern would buy it. They will just bide their time and move onto any viable routes when/if they become vacant?

SOU base closing?

Looks like changes at SOU, the early flight to Newcastle is not bookable after mid january. The timings to liverpool have also changed, and look like they are being run on a Saab?

Sorry if I've missed something from earlier, but what is the Swedish contract starting Feb?

Wet lease of 1 J41 based at Linkoping Airfield, Sweden. Using Swedish Cabin Crew and Eastern pilots from the UK. Should start in Feb 2010.

Did anyone hear a rumour regarding an Embraer addition in 2010?

How have Eastern been affected by the supposed world wide grounding of J41's?

What worldwide grounding? If you read the airlink post in full it is their J41s only!! GMAJL left Plymouth at 4pm covering a WOW service.

I have read the thread in full, and it is mentioned here:

http://www.pprune.org/african-aviati...ml#post5400356

Just want to mention , its not only Airlink J41's ....its worldwide
and less explicitly here:

http://www.pprune.org/african-aviati...ml#post5401157

This ban applies to the J41
but nowhere do I see any contradiction of the above? Hence my question.

It looks that way. There are no services requiring the SOU-based aircraft from January 11th onwards. Sounds as though three J41s are heading for Jonkoping, one of which will be a standby aircraft with the other two operating two flights a day to Copenhagen and three flights a day to Stockholm Bromma from 1 February.

Aberdeen-Oslo no longer bookable from mid Jan, ABZ-Bergen cut back and NCL-SOU down to one flight per day at pretty awful timings.

They never seem to have enough crew for the uk and french stuff, let alone any swedish capers!

Surely they must have to recruit now, are there any type rating courses being run now or in the near future?

Haven't Eastern had a second aircraft based at SOU for charters recently? Can that save the SOU crew base?

Eastern better hope they are quick learners. Sweden contract starts in feb and they are scratching around for crew

Whats with the emb135's, is there a contract in the pipeline

Aberdeen crew rooms like the great escape set, saab captains going over the wall, tunnelling out left right and centre
