Air Scotland
There is an Air Scotland flight arriving tomorrow from Faro (GRE4512). I can't see anything in Air Scotland's or the airport's web sites. Is this a one off or are they planning regular flights at Prestwick?

Sounds like they had some awful delays at the weekend:
David Marshall, MP for Glasgow East, has called for an investigation into Air Scotland after extreme delays on their network last weekend.

Well, I don't know why he wants an investigation into the company and how it operates as the delay mentioned is generally the norm for Excel, so maybe they should be investigated, I mean, I dont think there has been a day gone by wherby they havent issued welfare.
I think Air Scotland seems to attract alot of unecessary attention purely down to the fact that they only have 1 aircraft and such a small company, so any kind of delay and suddenly its like, Air Scotland going bust, they cant afford the bills and the whole things a complete mess. They have no back up aircraft so of course, if no sub available, you gonna have to ride with the delay.
Reading the article, maybe it was badly handled and sometimes, the way you handle a situation can stop half of the negative press they get, face up to the problem Air Scotland and show the punters that your trying, at least.Communication is the key in all delays.

To be honest i didn't think that Air Scotland had any aircraft (why if it's a Scottish airline didn't they have a UK registered aircraft???)!!! Not seen the 757 at GLA for a while & heard it's gone back to the leasing company, though it's supposed to be replaced by an A321.

i think by taking the name airscotland they shame the country. Other countries have good airlines such as: Spain- Iberia, germany- Germanwings, Airberlin, Nertherlands- KLM the list goes on but we have Airscotland which says it all. I am totally embarressed when people talk about this airline.

Me too! There's nothing Scottish about this airline apart from the name and the Saltire on the tail. At least Flyglobespan has a better reputation (although I've never flown with them).

So another non UK registered aircraft to be based in UK then. Why do the CAA allow this? If the airline can conform to all the UK CAA requirements & intend to base the aircraft in UK, why no "G" reg?
Flyglobespan would be a better airline to reflect the identity as Scotlands airline.

if there's nothing scottish about the airline then why do they have scottish crew and a scottish base?

I for one am not embarrassed cos i work for the company and despite what you lot say i am still proud to put on my uniform.
oh and as for the reggy plate did globespan have a "G" reg from the start?

What's the problem with a non-uk registered aircraft operating schedules from Scotland? We are in the EU now (of which Greece is a member) and we have an open market. I don't hear anybody complaining about the Irish registered Ryanair Boeing 737-800s based at Prestwick. easyJet and Ryanair both base British and Irish registered aircraft in other "foreign lands"

Air Scotland is not actually the airline though. The airline is Greece Airways so the Air Scotland name is purely the name of the ticketing agent. This was never the initial intention and I have to say it was a huge mistake in my view. Greece Airways, as mentioned, has every right to operate and base within the EU (UK included.) I guess that's the way of the industry now, Scottish (mainly) crew working for a Greek airline owned by a Spanish company with UK offices! 
Air Scotia, any sense of me being proud to pull on that uniform vanished years ago, even long before you joined! I almost constantly had the following feeling working for them (and you know what I mean)...........

Then you'd be proud to work for SPT, although thats how some of your pax start their holiday (GLA to MAN by bus).
Sorry but it may employ local people buts it's hardly reputable & some of the crew i've seen are far from well mannered about other GLA users. I guess if you can't get a job for a real airline it'll have to do!!!!

Eh Denzil I think we'll leave off the personal attacks if you don't mind! Still lots of people at Air Scotland/Greece Airways who are good hard working folk. (My girlfriend is one!!!) How do you mean?

Not fair to tar all with the same brush, but followed a crew through GLA & they made racist comments about 2 airlines that operate into GLA. With the ownership & country of reg of Air Scotland it was a case of the pot calling the kettle. All the same very unproffesional.

Air Scotland new routes
Several new destinations/routes have appeared in the Air Scotland booking engine;
Belfast-Girona
Bristol-Girona
Cardiff-Girona
Doncaster-Girona
Norwich-Girona
Southampton-Girona
No timetables available however, what are their plans?
