Runway Extension

Has anyone else added 124m to the north end of the runway in Google Earth and is anyone else wondering just how much difference this very short runway extension is really going to make ? Why not make the most of the inevitable disruption and add enough to really make a difference, 500m ?

Baku

Possibly this?

Just read one report that claims Azerbaijan Airlines are to launch routes "in the near future" to ABZ & AMS. Report was dated 10/1/11 & quoted a spokesman Maharrah Sarfarli.

Baku is certainly one the oil industry would like to see, if the report is accurate.

With bmi dropping Heathrow - Glasgow, how secure is the equivalent route to Aberdeen? A bmi spokesman has said their other routes apart from Glasgow are secure, & Heathrow will continue to be served from Aberdeen "for the forseeable"...however long that actually means!

Re Baku, the Amsterdam service has been officially announced. We wait & see if ABZ is announced at a later date.

EGPD, runway extension.

124m could have a marked effect.

lt could stop a repeat of the message " f**k off " being mowed into the grass on approach to the south

tweet re Germany

Airport has tweeted that they continue to work on securing a direct German route. Presumably FRA or MUC with luftie, bmir or flybe? Wonder how close they are to succeeding.

Probably as close as GLA claim they are to securing another German link ( or have been for the past 2 years)

Passenger figures at Dyce showing 9% ahead of the same month last year. At last signs of an upturn, albeit coming from a long way back after ~30mths of continual falls.

There is a long way to go, but here's hoping the fortunes at the terminal have changed for the better.

The other Scottish terminals currently BAA owned also showed increases, so more cautiously good news there too.

Seems to have been an issue landing or being handled at INV for some reason. The kids had to travel down the A96 to meet up with the charter at ABZ instead.

The main runway at INS is the same length as main runway at ABZ. Heard a rumor that the apron at Inverness may have some issues with heavier loads being parked on it, maybe a reason for the move to ABZ ?

For the last couple of summers there has been a 757 in INV doing some sort of charter work. Reckon we can handle a 321.

the apron loads of a 757 cannot be directly compared to a single bogie A321
